Orry, who is officially known as Orhan Awatraman, and seven others, including Russian citizen Anastasila Arzamaskina, were arrested by the Jammu and Kashmir police on charges of drinking near the Vaishno Devi temple in Katra. The group has been charged with a police complaint for allegedly breaking local rules and hurting religious sentiments. The incident took place at the Cottage Suite complex in Katra, an area under strict regulations against alcohol and non-vegetarian food being consumed in the region because of its vicinity to the holy Vaishno Devi temple.

Charges and Social Media Backlash
The group, including Orry and his pals, is charged under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyosa Sanhita for breaching the district’s rules. The police took the individuals into custody for their allegedly going against the rules, which included drinking alcohol even though the region banned alcohol. Internet users were quick to attack the group after bottles of alcohol were said to be seen on a table, which caused universal outrage.
