Two days after the wedding of cricketer Smriti Mandhana and music composer Palash Muchhal was indefinitely postponed due to her father Shrinivas Mandhana’s sudden health scare, he has now been discharged from a hospital in Sangli—where the ceremony was originally scheduled to take place. According to reports, Shrinivas is stable and out of danger.
Shrinivas had shown symptoms resembling a heart attack, prompting doctors to perform an angiography. Fortunately, no blockages were detected, and he was deemed fit for discharge, India TV reported. Smriti’s manager, Tuhin Mishra, explained that Shrinivas’ condition deteriorated unexpectedly on Sunday morning while he was having breakfast, forcing the family to rush him to the hospital.
“His health suddenly declined while having breakfast. We initially waited, hoping he would recover, but when things worsened, we called an ambulance and admitted him. He was under observation,” Mishra said. He also confirmed that Smriti, who shares a close bond with her father, chose to postpone the wedding indefinitely until he fully recovers. “Smriti is clear—she wants her father to be completely well before she gets married,” Mishra added.
Although Shrinivas has now been discharged, the wedding date remains undecided. Neither the families nor Mishra have issued updates on rescheduling the ceremony. Adding to the speculation, Smriti deleted her engagement and pre-wedding posts from Instagram a day earlier. Her teammates also removed the viral engagement announcement reel they had created with her. The video—featuring Smriti dancing with teammates Jemimah Rodrigues, Shreyanka Patil, Radha Yadav, and Arundhati Reddy to “Samjho Ho Hi Gaya” from Lage Raho Munna Bhai—has now disappeared from all involved accounts, despite having over a million likes.

Palash Muchhal’s sister, playback singer Palak Muchhal, addressed the growing rumours by issuing a statement clarifying that the postponement was solely due to Smriti’s father’s health. “We request everyone to respect the privacy of both families during this sensitive time,” she said. Neither Smriti nor Palash has commented publicly so far.
