Sonu Sood is gearing up for the release of MAXIMUM, a film which is set in the Bombay (and not Mumbai) of the past. While the film’s interesting promos have done the trick, the actor goes on to add that the very city of Bombay has a major role to play in MAXIMUM and the film wouldn’t have been what it is if not set in the city.

”It is for a good reason that Bombay is called ‘Maximum City’. Everything about it is maximum, whether it is its people or the power that they hold,” says Sonu, ”This city has a great character and people who form an integral part of it are cops and politicians. While Naseeruddin Shah and I are playing cops, Vinay Pathak is the politician.”

In the film, Sonu is playing an encounter specialist.
”I play this character called Pandit who hails from Uttar Pradesh and is posted in Bombay. He is a no nonsense guy who wouldn’t take anything lying down. The film is about he and his network operated when encounter killings were at their peak. Pandit is someone who is very smart, doesn’t speak much but his acts make a lot of sense. As a central protagonist, I am happy to be doing a film which has slightly serious overtones to it. Really, MAXIMUM is the kind of film which I was waiting for so many years.”
We do hope that the wait is worth it Sonu. Also starring Neha Dhupia, the film releases all over on 29th June.
