Stree 2 Trailer: Rajkummar Rao calls Shraddha Kapoor ‘Sonam Bewafa’ as she is back as ‘Bhootiya Girlfriend’

Shraddha Kapoor has generated excitement by sharing a new poster for the much-anticipated sequel to “Stree,” a film that marked the beginning of Maddock’s Supernatural Universe. The trailer of the much awaited film Stree 2 finally released today.

The trailer begins with Pankaj Tripathi’s character, Rudra Bhaiya, introducing a new menace to the people of Chanderi: a headless monster known as ‘Sarkata’. This new threat sends the villagers into a state of panic. To combat this terror, Shraddha Kapoor’s character, who was hinted to be the evil spirit in the prequel, returns. This time, the townspeople change their plea from “O stree kal aana” (Oh woman, come tomorrow) to “O stree raksha karna” (Oh woman, protect us), signifying their desperate need for protection against the new danger.

The shift in the villagers’ plea highlights their dependence on Stree for safety, setting the stage for an intriguing mix of horror and comedy as they navigate this new supernatural threat. With the return of beloved characters and the introduction of new elements, “Stree 2″ promises to be an exciting continuation of the story.

Earlier in the teaser, Rajkummar Rao’s character ominously says, “Je toh sachmein aa gayi” . The following scenes depict the village men preparing to confront Stree, the ghostly antagonist from the first film. The tension builds as Rajkummar Rao’s character stands in a dark alley, clearly terrified, and says, “Humne aapki choti kaat di thi, garam tel mein massage karenge na toh aa jayegi wapas…Streeji hum palat rahe hain hamare kapde mat nikalna pleaaase…friends haa…”

In the poster, a mysterious lady in black is shown from behind, holding her long ponytail, which is producing thunderbolts. Above her stands a tall figure in a black cape, set against the backdrop of an old haunted fortress. This intriguing image hints at the eerie and thrilling elements to come in the sequel.

Shraddha shared the poster on her Instagram, captioning it, “Kaali taaqat se sabki raksha karne woh aa rahi hai bas 2 din mein ” She added ghost and monster emojis and announced, “#Stree2 Trailer Out In 2 Days! The legend returns this Independence Day, 15th August, 2024.” In another post, she wrote, “Aatank jab Chanderi par chhaya, tab sabko ek hi nara yaad aaya, O Stree Raksha Karna (When Chanderi was in terror then everyone said, ‘Stree protect us’!).”

In “Stree,” Shraddha and Rajkummar Rao played pivotal roles, with the film ending on a cliffhanger as Shraddha’s character was seen carrying a ponytail associated with an evil spirit. The Maddock Supernatural Universe has expanded to include films like “Roohi” (2021), “Bhediya” (2022), and “Munjya” (2024), with characters from these films making cameo appearances in each other’s stories, further interconnecting the universe.

“Stree 2” will feature returning stars Abhishek Banerjee, Pankaj Tripathi, and Aparshakti Khurrana, among others, and is directed by Amar Kaushik. The film is set to release on August 15, promising to deliver more thrills and chills as part of the celebrated horror-comedy franchise.
