The Hindi film industry has long followed some tried and tested formula for success. Lost and found, revenge drama, teenage romance, love triangles etc have been the favourites, and we have seen many filmmakers following these formats with amazing success over a period of time. And with Vidya Balan‘s KAHAANI continuing its winning march at the ticket window the same tale is being told once again.

For those who are confused, the climax of Vidya Balan’s suspense thriller is much along the same lines as the Mithun Chakraborty, Rakhee and Ranjeeta starrer, DHUAN (1981), and the Rishi Kapoor, Naseeruddin Shah and Kimi Katkar starrer, KHOJ (1989).

In both the above mentioned films, the plot and to a certain extent even the climax is quite similar to Sujoy Ghosh’s KAHAANI.
Both the films, DHUAN and KHOJ, were suspense thrillers that overwhelmed the audience with their unpredictable climax.
Off course Sujoy Ghosh’s superb treatment and touches and Vidya Balan’s mind blowing portrayal of Vidya Bagchi are the factors that have made KAHAANI the super hit that it will be, and it is just not the climax! And although there is no concrete evidence but rumours are rife that even Aamir Khan‘s TALAASH had very much the same climax as KAHAANI and that is why it may be re-shot.
