In a moment that will be remembered forever in IPL history, Virat Kohli was visibly emotional when Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) finally won their first-ever IPL title. RCB nailed the win over Punjab Kings (PBKS) by six runs in an intense IPL 2025 final match at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, ending a drought of 18 years since their first win.
Having been sent in to bat, RCB scored 190/9 off a decent total, with Kohli taking the lead from the front as the highest scorer with 43 runs from 35 deliveries. Despite finding it tough to get going on a favorable batting surface, his dogged knock helped stabilize the innings when things were needed most. Mayank Agarwal, Rajat Patidar, and Liam Livingstone’s contributions assisted RCB in reaching a defendable total despite losing wickets at frequent intervals.
Congratulations RCB ✨

The actual heroes of the evening were RCB’s bowlers. Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Krunal Pandya bowled great spells in pressure conditions with control and experience to limit PBKS to 184/7 from their 20 overs. Punjab’s pursuit began to fall apart in the middle overs, and even with a late surge, they came up agonizingly short.
A heartfelt celebration shared by Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma as RCB’s dream becomes reality in IPL 2025. ❤️#IPL2025 #ViratKohli #AnushkaSharma #RCBvPBKS pic.twitter.com/jaJL8xM9bd

When the last wicket dropped, Kohli fell to his knees, and tears rolled down his cheeks. The weight of almost two decades of dedication, criticism, and perseverance burst forth in that moment. Cheering in the stands was his actress wife Anushka Sharma, who joined him on the field soon after the win. The couple hugged each other warmly, capturing years of shared aspirations and steadfast backing.
