Though generally considered to be a dull phase, there are quite a few interesting films, including one major big budgeted, big star cast film releasing in the first month of the year 2013.
Amongst the interesting and small films are the Rajeev Khandelwal, Tena Desae and Paresh Rawal starrer, TABLE NO.21, releasing on January 4, and is expected to surprise at the ticket window.
Next up is Vishal Bhardjwaj's MATRU KI BIJLEE KA MANDOLA, which sees a 11th January release, and the film too appears to be a winner considering it's zany and hilarious promos and chartbusting music. Releasing alongside MATRU KI BIJLEE KA MANDOLA will be Kamal Haasan's magnum opus, VISHWAROOP. And needless to add that any film from the legendary actor, is an event that gets a lot of audience and attention!
Next up will be Sudhir Mishra's INKAAR, starring the sultry Chitrangada Singh and the suave and handsome Arjun Rampal. And with its topical theme of sexual harassment, INKAAR has the ability to surprise at the box-office on 18th January. The same day will see AKAASH VANI hitting the cinemas. Being from the stable of Kumar Mangat, the film will surely appeal to the target audience, the youths!
However, trade and industry has placed all hopes on Abbas-Mustan's RACE 2, which release on 25th January, and is expected to embark on a big start, and emerge the first major hit of the year.
Catchy and hit music, big stars like Saif, Deepika, John and Anil Kapoor, quasi-sequel to the hit RACE, makes RACE 2 a brand, coupled with king of thrillers, Abbas-Mustan tag as directors, assures that the film is a hot proposition. And it will not be a surprise if RACE 2 emerges as year's first major success.
