Wife of veteran actor Sanjay Khan, Zarine Khan, died at her home in Mumbai on Friday morning at the age of 81. For some time, she was suffering from age-related ailments. Film fraternity members were heartbroken with her demise, and several Bollywood celebrities and close family friends paid a visit to the Khan residence as a mark of respect.
An emotional Zayed Khan was seen performing the final rites of his mother and broke down during the ceremony. A video shared by Viral Bhayani showed how emotional Zayed was while giving a final farewell to his beloved mother. Several celebrities were seen at the funeral, including Hrithik Roshan, who earlier married Zarine’s daughter Sussanne Khan. Hrithik came along with his girlfriend Saba Azad and paid condolences to the bereaved family. The former couple, who share two sons — Hrehaan and Hridaan — have remained close despite parting ways.
Other celebrities present at Sanjay Khan’s Mumbai residence included Bobby Deol, Jaya Bachchan-who came in with daughter Shweta Bachchan, Jackie Shroff, Rakul Preet Singh and Nargis Fakhri. Bobby looked teary-eyed as he left after paying his last respects.
Bollywood actress Kajol condoled Zarine’s death on Instagram and termed it a “heart-wrenching loss;” she also extended her condolences to the family.
Zarine Khan was an internationally acclaimed model, actor, and interior designer, best known for her sophistication and contribution to India’s fashion and film industries during the 1960s and 1970s. She has worked in several films, including Tere Ghar Ke Samne opposite Dev Anand in 1963, among others, before turning into an interior designer.
Zarine and Sanjay Khan met in the late 1960s, were married within a few years of that, and instantly became one of the most glamorous couples Bollywood has ever known. But the family’s fame notwithstanding, Zarine chose to lead a largely private life devoted to her family and creative pursuits.

She is survived by husband Sanjay Khan and four children: Sussanne Khan, Simone Arora, Farah Ali Khan, and Zayed Khan.
