Amy Schumer’s Shocking Divorce Announcement: ‘Amicable and All Love

Amy Schumer announces divorce from Chris Fischer after 7 years, calls it amicable, requests privacy, and says they’ll continue raising son Gene together.

The actress and comedian, Amy Schumer, has now come clean about her split from her husband, Chris Fischer, with the two divorcing after seven years of marriage. The split has been revealed via a candid Instagram posting from Schumer’s Instagram page, with Schumer clearly announcing that the split is amicable.

In the couple’s announcement, Schumer expressed that although they are parting ways, she and Fischer are still heavily invested in the relationship that they share as parents. “Chris and I have decided to split after 7 years, but our top priority remains Gene, our amazing son, who we are thrilled to continue raising together,” Schumer said in the announcement, mixing a message of seriousness with a dash of Schumer’s comedic flair to address the rumors that have been swirling around the split.

The posting came with a photo of the ex-couple pictured smiling together on the New York City subway, indicating oneness even when separated. Schumer’s jovial mood did not reduce the gravity of the situation but seemed to emphasize her message that the split is with love, respect, and a sense of shared family.

Schumer and Fischer’s relationship came into the limelight in 2017, with the two even tying the knot in a private ceremony in 2018. The couple brought a new life into the picture when they had a child, Gene, in May 2019.

Lately, whispers of problems in her marriage had started making the rounds, mostly as a result of Schumer’s postings on social media sites. In November, her followers on Instagram observed that she had taken down pictures of Fischer from her page.

In response to these rumors, the “Trainwreck” actress had shared an Instagram Story with a picture of New York City, complimenting the Hulu series “All’s Fair,” which is about a divorce lawyer: “And Chris and I are still married.”
In a different posting, Schumer clarified that all changes in her life are in no way related to her weight loss or talks of autism.

“Whatever happens to me and Chris has zero to do with losing weight or my autism,” she posted, continuing on with, “Fingers crossed we make it through. He’s the best.” Although the marriage is now over, it is evident that Schumer’s press release has clarified that there is still a relationship that is shared with Fischer, that of motherhood and respect.
