The Grammy winning singer has teamed up with guitar brand Fender to release her own signature instrument.

Billie Eilish’s signature concert-sized model is built with Sapele top, back, and sides, featuring a matte black finish with the artist’s trademark ‘blohsh’ symbol. It also features a Fishman Kula Preamp and a built-in tuner.

“The ukulele was the first instrument I learned,” the 18-year-old said in a statement.

“It’s where I started writing, and where I found new ways of writing that I had never tried before. It inspires a different kind of writing.”

“The rules of the ukulele are simple, and basically, if you know three chords you can play almost any song. I hope my Fender Signature ukulele inspires people to start playing, and start writing; anyone can do it.”

“I feel like different instruments always make me write differently”, Billie Eilish added further.

The news comes shortly after the addition of six Billie Eilish songs, including ‘&burn,’ ‘my strange addiction,’ and ‘ocean eyes,’ to online learning app Fender Play.

To celebrate the historical context of the ukulele in Hawaii, Fender and Billie Eilish are reportedly contributing to the Aloha Mele Fund, a non-profit that is working to support coronavirus relief efforts for Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander communities in Hawaii.
