Rapper Cardi B had a tense encounter with paparazzi on Tuesday as she exited a courthouse in Alhambra, California. Dressed in a black-and-white polka dot outfit, the 31-year-old was questioned about rumours of a possible pregnancy and her reported connection to NFL player Stefon Diggs. When pressed about a potential fourth child with ex-husband Offset, Cardi snapped back, yelling “Respect women” before throwing a marker at the photographer.
As her bodyguard escorted her toward her car, Cardi admonished the paparazzo: “Why do you feel as a man, you get to ask me those type of questions? Act like you have some manners. Don’t disrespect me.” Despite her anger, the photographer continued to call out, “I still love you, Cardi.”
Legal Victory in Assault Case
The fiery moment came just hours after Cardi scored a major courtroom win. A Los Angeles jury unanimously rejected a $24 million lawsuit filed by security guard Emani Ellis, who alleged the rapper assaulted her outside a Beverly Hills obstetrician’s office in 2018.
Ellis claimed Cardi, then secretly pregnant, scratched her face, spat on her, and hurled racial slurs. Both women are Black. Cardi, however, testified that Ellis provoked the incident by following her and attempting to film her with a cellphone, calling it a “verbal altercation” rather than a physical one.
Jury Sides With Cardi
After less than an hour of deliberation, the 12-member jury found Ellis had not presented sufficient evidence. Speaking after the verdict, Cardi warned against future lawsuits: “The next person to try to do a frivolous lawsuit against me, I’m going countersue, and you’re going to pay. I’m not that celeb that you’re going to sue and I’m going to settle.”
Ellis, meanwhile, maintained her allegations and said she had no regrets about pursuing the case.
