The iconic fashion film The Devil Wears Prada is officially getting a sequel nearly two decades after the original became a cultural phenomenon. The new film, titled The Devil Wears Prada 2, is set to bring back several beloved characters while exploring a new chapter in the high fashion world. The original movie, released in 2006, was based on the novel by Lauren Weisberger and followed young journalist Andy Sachs navigating the demanding world of fashion under the ruthless editor Miranda Priestly.The sequel is scheduled to hit theaters on May 1, 2026, marking the long awaited return of one of Hollywood’s most recognizable fashion dramas. 

Production on the film began in June 2025 after it was officially announced by Disney. Fans got their first glimpse of the project when Anne Hathaway shared an early look at her return as Andy Sachs on social media.

Several major stars from the original film are returning. Meryl Streep will once again play the powerful and intimidating editor in chief Miranda Priestly, while Hathaway returns as Andy Sachs. Emily Blunt will reprise her role as Miranda’s sharp tongued assistant Emily Charlton, and Stanley Tucci returns as the beloved fashion director Nigel.

The sequel will also introduce new characters. Kenneth Branagh has joined the cast and will play Miranda Priestly’s husband. Additional cast members include Simone Ashley, Lucy Liu, Justin Theroux, B.J. Novak and Pauline Chalamet. Actors Rachel Bloom and Patrick Brammall are also set to appear in the film, while Tracie Thoms and Tibor Feldman will reprise their roles from the original movie.

Director David Frankel, who helmed the original movie, has also been in discussions to return, along with producer Wendy Finerman.

A teaser for the sequel has already been released. The first preview dropped in November 2025, and a fuller teaser was shown during the Grammy Awards 2026, giving fans their first official glimpse of the returning fashion world.
