Hollywood’s iconic actress Dawn Wells just breathed her last.
The former beauty queen, who portrayed Mary Ann Summers in the classic CBS sitcom ‘Gilligan’s Island’ passed away on Wednesday morning at age 82.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, her publicist Harlan Boll revealed that she died due to complications related to Covid-19 at a residential facility in Los Angeles.
“There is so much more to Dawn Wells” than the ‘Gilligan’s Island’ character that brought her fame, Boll said in a statement.
Besides TV shows and stage acting credits, Dawn Wells also appeared in several films, including 77 Sunset Strip, Maverick, and Bonanza, reports BBC.
Though she featured in several films and series, Wells will always be remembered for the iconic sitcom which ran between 1964 and 1967.
Many celebs took to social media to pay their last respects to Dawn Wells.
Tina Louise, 86, who is the last surviving member of the show’s ensemble cast that includes Bob Denver, Alan Hale Jr, Natalie Schafer, Jim Backus, and Russell Johnson, wrote, “I will always remember her kindness to me. We shared in creating a cultural landmark that has continued to bring comfort and smiles to people during this difficult time. I hope that people will remember her the way that I do always with a smile on her face.”

‘Two and a Half Men’ famed actor Jon Cryer wrote: “It was such a thrill for me to meet Dawn Wells when she came to see Two and a Half Men. She could not have been more lovely and gracious. I’m so grateful that I got to enjoy the work she loved doing.”
