Greenland 2: Migration Gerard Butler Returns in the Post-Apocalyptic Sequel

Lionsgate’s Greenland 2: Migration releases on January 9, 2026. The sequel follows the Garrity family’s journey across a devastated Earth as they search for a new home after surviving a comet strike.

Lionsgate’s upcoming thriller Greenland 2: Migration continues the story that began in the 2020 hit Greenland, taking audiences deeper into a post-apocalyptic world. Directed by Ric Roman Waugh, the film releases on January 9, 2026, and runs through April 9, 2026.
The sequel picks up after the devastating comet strike that wiped out most of Earth’s population.

The story follows John Garrity (played by Gerard Butler), his wife Allison (Morena Baccarin), and their son Nathan (Roman Griffin Davis) as they leave the safety of their underground bunker in Greenland to face what’s left of the outside world.

Their journey is not just a fight for survival but also a search for hope, and a place they can once again call home. The world they step into is unrecognizable, filled with new dangers, fractured societies, and desperate survivors. As the Garritys travel across the remnants of civilization, the story explores how far people will go to protect those they love when everything else is gone.

The cast also includes Amber Rose Revah, Sophie Thompson, Trond Fausa Aurvåg, and William Abadie. The film is produced by Basil Iwanyk, Erica Lee, Gerard Butler, Alan Siegel, Sebastien Raybaud, John Zois, Brendon Boyea, and Ric Roman Waugh.

With Butler and Waugh reuniting after the success of Greenland and Angel Has Fallen, Greenland 2: Migration promises to deliver high-stakes tension and emotional storytelling on a global scale.
