Grey’s Anatomy Says Goodbye to Teddy and Owen as Kim Raver and Kevin McKidd Exit After Season 22

Grey’s Anatomy gears up for an emotional farewell as Kim Raver and Kevin McKidd exit the series after Season 22, marking the end of Teddy and Owen’s journey.

It is the end of an era at Grey’s Anatomy. Longtime cast members Kim Raver and Kevin McKidd are officially exiting the show after the Season 22 finale, set to air on May 7. For fans who have followed Teddy Altman and Owen Hunt through years of chaos, heartbreak, and reconciliation, this goodbye is going to hit hard. Their storyline has always been one of the most layered in the series. From meeting as Army majors in Baghdad to navigating a complicated romantic journey back in Seattle, Teddy and Owen have been through it all.

After finally tying the knot in Season 18, their relationship took another turn, eventually leading to a divorce. Yet, even now, there is a sense that their story may not end in complete separation.

According to creator Shonda Rhimes, the decision to write them out is both emotional and intentional. There is a promise of closure, possibly even a happy ending, which offers some comfort to longtime viewers who have invested in their journey.

McKidd joined the series back in Season 5, becoming a central figure not just on screen but behind the camera as well, directing dozens of episodes over the years. Raver, who first appeared in Season 6, has had a more on-and-off relationship with the show, but her presence has always been impactful. Both actors have contributed significantly to shaping the tone and depth of the series.

Even though their exit is being described as a creative decision, the door is not entirely closed. Like many characters in the Grey’s universe, a return in the future is always possible.

As Season 22 wraps up, fans are bracing themselves for an emotional farewell. Teddy and Owen’s story may be ending for now, but their impact on Grey’s Anatomy is something that will not be forgotten anytime soon.
