The much talked about television adaptation of Harry Potter has officially been introduced by Warner Bros Discovery. On March 26, the studio revealed the first teaser, along with the title and release timeline of the series. The show is based on the popular books written by J K Rowling and is planned as a long form adaptation that explores the story in more detail than the earlier films.
The announcement was made at a special event held in London to mark the launch of HBO Max in the region. The first season of the show is titled Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, which will focus on Harry’s first year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The makers have confirmed that each book will be adapted into a full season, giving the story more time to develop characters and include parts that were not shown in the films released over 20 years ago. The series is expected to premiere globally around Christmas 2026.
After the teaser was released, reactions from viewers began appearing online. Many people appreciated the idea of a more detailed version of the story. Some felt that the longer format could do justice to the original material. One fan said, “Love it! Finally, we will also have a book accurate series, with hours and hours to watch. Wanted that since my childhood days. If it is half as good as the movies, I’ll be happy! “ Another viewer added, “Looks like a more detailed story this time and bro the music is (fire emoji)”. A third person wrote, “This is beautiful, yes, OG is OG! But this is soooo nostalgic.”
At the same time, not everyone reacted positively. A section of viewers expressed concerns, especially about the casting choices and the overall tone of the teaser. One comment read, “No hate…but this casting looks so off that if anyone never saw the harry potter movie till now, please do not watch it, there is no coming back again…what just happened to Malfoy, Hagrid, Snape, Hermione and the overall vibe is just gone…confused…disappointed…not having the vibe at all.”
Overall, the teaser has started a wider conversation among fans. While some are excited about a more detailed retelling, others are unsure about how the new version will compare to the earlier films. The response shows that expectations for the series remain high as audiences wait for more updates.
