Hugh Jackman gave Marvel fans something to talk about during Disney’s D23 Expo after making a playful pitch to Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige about joining Avengers: Doomsday. The actor appeared through a video message during the presentation and jokingly asked to be included in the upcoming Marvel film.
Jackman is best known in the Marvel universe for playing Wolverine, a character he first portrayed in 2000’s X Men. Although the actor had previously said goodbye to the role with 2024’s Deadpool & Wolverine, his latest appearance at D23 has once again raised questions about Wolverine’s future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The fun moment became even more entertaining because Ryan Reynolds was involved. Reynolds, who plays Deadpool, appeared to be coaching Jackman from behind the camera during the video. Their playful exchange was well received by the audience and quickly became one of the talking points from the event.
While the video was presented as a joke, fans immediately began discussing what it could mean for Avengers: Doomsday. Many viewers took the moment as another possible hint that Wolverine and Deadpool could appear in the film.
The D23 presentation also included a special look at Avengers: Doomsday. The footage teased a large scale story involving the multiverse and several familiar Marvel characters. Robert Downey Jr is set to play Doctor Doom in the film, giving the upcoming project another major connection to the wider Marvel story.
The possible return of Jackman as Wolverine would add another popular character to the film. However, the D23 appearance itself does not officially confirm that Wolverine will have a role in Avengers: Doomsday.
Jackman’s Wolverine and Reynolds’ Deadpool have already shared the screen in Deadpool & Wolverine, which brought together the two characters in a story connected to Marvel’s wider multiverse. Their popularity has led to continued interest in seeing them appear in future MCU projects.

Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled to arrive in theatres on December 18, 2026. Until Marvel makes an official announcement, Jackman’s playful D23 message remains a tease rather than confirmation of Wolverine’s appearance.
For now, the video has given fans another reason to speculate about which Marvel characters could show up when Avengers: Doomsday reaches theatres.
