The much-awaited fantasy movie Omniscient Reader: The Prophet will release on July 23, bringing the popular webtoon Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint to the big screen. The film revolves around Kim Dok Ja, played by Ahn Hyo-seop, who finds himself trapped in the world of his favorite novel unexpectedly.
Star-Studded Cast and Jisoo’s Cameo
The movie has a star-studded cast featuring Ahn Hyo-seop, Lee Min-ho, Chae Soo-bin, Shin Seung-ho, and Nana. But a lot of the focus has fallen on BLACKPINK’s Jisoo, who has made a special cameo as Lee Ji Hye. While her part is a short one, it has generated talk among fans—mainly because of a significant deviation from the original narrative.
Lee Ji Hye carries a knife in the webtoon, but the film version has her carrying a gun. The change was criticized by veteran fans. Director Kim Byung-woo referred to the change in a press conference and said, “I made this choice after much deliberation on what would make her character burst at a climactic moment. I know fans care, but it will make sense when you see the film.

Director Kim also shared why he cast Jisoo for the role, despite its limited screen time. “Our main criteria were hard work and dedication. Jisoo showed strong enthusiasm from the first meeting and put in great effort during rehearsals,” he said. “She really brought attention to the role, and I’m very satisfied with her performance.”
