Despite their split, Kim has made it clear that Kanye will always remain “family” to her, especially as they continue to co-parent their four children—North (12), Saint (10), Chicago (8) and Psalm (6).
In a recent conversation with Complex, Kim addressed her unexpected public shoutout to Kanye’s Yeezy shoe designs, which sparked widespread conversation online. “We’ll always be family,” she said, emphasising that their shared journey and children bind them together for life. “We both know that. We will be okay, and there’s so much love for our family. We want what’s best for our kids.”
Kim explained that her praise had nothing to do with rekindling romance, but everything to do with acknowledging creativity she genuinely admires. The Yeezy heel she wore recently stood out so much that she felt compelled to credit its design. “I couldn’t deny the Yeezy heel, so I had to shout it out,” she admitted.
The moment in question came in early January, when Kim posted a TikTok while vacationing in Aspen. In the clip, she showed off a pair of Yeezy heels designed by Kanye and praised the craftsmanship and attention to detail. “Then I put it with these Yeezy boots. I will say, there’s nothing like a Yeezy heel,” she said, adding that she loved how seamlessly the shoes matched her outfit. The video quickly went viral, largely because Kim and Kanye have kept their public interactions minimal since their divorce.
Kim’s comments arrive shortly after Kanye West issued a public apology in a full-page newspaper advertisement, in which he acknowledged that his past behaviour and statements were reckless and caused harm to people close to him as well as the wider public. The timing added further intrigue to Kim’s remarks, though she has remained focused on co-parenting and family stability.
Kim and Kanye’s relationship began in 2012, after years of friendship. They married in 2014 following an extravagant proposal in San Francisco, becoming one of pop culture’s most talked-about couples. After nearly seven years of marriage, Kim filed for divorce, later citing a “lack of stability” that made her feel unsafe. Their divorce was finalised in 2022, marking the end of an era—but not the end of their connection as parents.
