South Korean actor Kim Soo Hyun has taken legal action against the family of the late actress Kim Sae Ron and social media personality Kim Se Ui, accusing them of spreading false information using AI-generated audio. The actor’s legal team stated that this goes beyond defamation, highlighting that a criminal complaint was also filed against Kim, based on a fabricated audio clip.
AI Audio at Center of Controversy
The controversy began two months ago when Kim Se Ui held a press conference and played an audio recording allegedly featuring the voices of Kim Soo Hyun and Kim Sae Ron. The recording appeared to suggest that Kim Soo Hyun dated Sae Ron when she was in middle school, even quoting a line where the male voice said, “The first time [we had sex] was around the winter break of my second year in middle school.”
Kim Soo Hyun’s legal team has dismissed the audio as AI-generated and fabricated, calling the situation a serious case of false accusation. They also emphasized that the claims were maliciously spread to damage his reputation.
Kim Soo Hyun Breaks Silence
Kim Soo Hyun had previously addressed the allegations in a press conference, denying dating Sae Ron when she was a minor. “We dated five years ago for about a year, long before Queen of Tears aired,” he said. He also clarified that his earlier denial was to protect the show’s team and insisted that they were just a regular couple who eventually broke up naturally.
