Chris Hemsworth is set to reprise his iconic role as Thor in Marvel’s upcoming film Avengers: Doomsday. While recent online speculation suggested this might be his final outing as the God of Thunder, the actor has clarified that he is not done with the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) just yet.
Clarification on “Farewell” Video
The rumors began after Hemsworth posted a video on his YouTube channel earlier this year, thanking fans and reflecting on his journey as Thor. Many interpreted the emotional tone of the video as a farewell. However, in a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Hemsworth dismissed those claims.
“It was certainly not the intent,” he said. “My social media team put together some footage to thank the fans, and I thought it was a nice gesture. But then people started thinking it was a goodbye message.” The actor added that while some on his team realized the video could be misunderstood, they decided not to issue any clarification at the time. “A lot was read into a little,” Hemsworth noted.
Thor’s Story Continues
Hemsworth confirmed he has already started filming for the next chapter of Thor’s journey, emphasizing how important the character has been to his career. First appearing in 2011’s Thor, Hemsworth has been a consistent presence in the MCU for over a decade.
