Tim Burton and Monica Bellucci have officially ended their relationship. In a joint statement released on Friday, the 67-year-old filmmaker and the 60-year-old Italian actress announced their separation, saying, “It is with much respect and deep care for each other that Monica Bellucci and Tim Burton have decided to part ways,” as reported by AFP.
The news comes shortly after Bellucci publicly supported Burton at his Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony. The couple had been dating since 2022, keeping their relationship mostly out of the spotlight. They originally met at the Cannes Film Festival in 2006 but were both in long-term relationships at the time. Years later, they reconnected in 2022 at the Lumière Film Festival in Lyon, where Bellucci presented Burton with the Lumière Award. Soon after, they were spotted together in Madrid, sparking romance rumours.
In 2023, Burton attended the premiere of Bellucci’s film Maria Callas: Lettere e Memorie at the Rome Film Festival. At the time, The Independent described him as “so in love and happy.” That same summer, Bellucci opened up about their relationship in Elle France, saying, “I am glad I met the man, first of all… I know the man, I love him, and now I am going to meet the director.” She later joined the cast of Beetlejuice, the sequel to Burton’s 1988 cult classic.

Burton was previously in a long-term relationship with actress Helena Bonham Carter from 2001 to 2014. The two never married but share two children and collaborated on several films. Bonham Carter once described their split as “a kind of divorce.”
Bellucci was married to French actor Vincent Cassel from 1999 to 2013. They share two daughters, Deva and Leonie.
