A24 has officially released the trailer for Marty Supreme, the much-awaited film starring Timothée Chalamet. Directed by Josh Safdie—his first solo outing since co-directing Uncut Gems with brother Benny Safdie—the movie is already making waves for its unique concept and Chalamet’s intense transformation.
A 1950s Tale of Ambition and Performance
Set in the 1950s, Marty Supreme follows the story of Marty Mauser, a gifted ping pong player with dreams that few take seriously. The film explores Marty’s journey through struggle, ambition, and relentless pursuit of greatness. The trailer opens with Chalamet’s character calling a movie star, played by Gwyneth Paltrow, and telling her, “I am something of a performer too.”
Star-Studded Cast and Viral On-Set Moments
The film stars an impressive ensemble cast including Gwyneth Paltrow, Fran Drescher, Tyler, the Creator, Penn Jillette, Odessa A’zion, Kevin O’Leary, and Abel Ferrara. A leaked photo from the set showing Chalamet kissing Paltrow in Central Park went viral last year, further fueling interest in the project.

Loosely Inspired by Ping Pong Legend Marty Reisman
Marty Supreme draws loose inspiration from real-life ping pong champion Marty Reisman, a five-time gold medalist who passed away in 2019. Chalamet reportedly trained extensively to portray a believable professional athlete. Cinematographer Darius Khondji shared that the actor was determined to “be like a real ping pong player” before filming began.
Chalamet on the Safdie Brothers’ Unique Style
In a recent interview with Variety, Chalamet praised the Safdie brothers’ filmmaking style, calling their work “raw, contemporary, and untethered.”
Release Date
Marty Supreme is slated to release in theaters on December 25, 2025, promising a gripping holiday watch.
