Tom Cruise is currently immersed in the production of his forthcoming film, Mission: Impossible 8, and is once again pushing the limits of action stunts. Recently released photos from the set in Switzerland, shared by Daily Mail, capture the actor hanging off an aircraft mid-air, a testament to his commitment to performing high-octane stunts himself.
The viral photos on X depict Cruise clinging to the wings of the aircraft, including a particularly dramatic shot of the plane inverted with Cruise hanging on. A production team helicopter was seen flying in close proximity, ensuring the scene’s execution and safety.
Tom Cruise fan account shared the post and captioned, “#TomCruise and #EsaiMorales on the set of #MissionImpossible 8 yesterday! 15.07.2024.”
This isn’t the first time Cruise has performed mid-air stunts for the Mission: Impossible franchise. In 2018, he executed a daring helicopter stunt for Mission: Impossible – Fallout, a sequence that left audiences thrilled.
Although Tom Cruise has been reticent about details concerning the new film, his co-star Shea Whigham provided some insights during a conversation with an entertainment portal last month. Whigham recounted his request to the film’s director, Christopher McQuarrie, for a significant scene with Cruise, comparable to the intense character interactions in The Usual Suspects. McQuarrie granted this request, and Whigham and Cruise later celebrated the successful filming of the scene with dinner, where Cruise mentioned that completing the shoot would be “a sprint.”
As filming progresses, fans eagerly anticipate more news and glimpses of what promises to be another thrilling installment in the Mission: Impossible series.
Tom Cruise has carved a niche for himself in Hollywood as an action star, renowned for his willingness to perform many of his own stunts, often at considerable personal risk. Throughout his lengthy career, with over 40 roles to his credit, Cruise’s dedication to authenticity and thrill in his films has led him to execute some truly dangerous stunts.
Despite the presence of skilled stunt coordinators and comprehensive safety measures on set, the stunts Cruise undertakes are inherently hazardous. His commitment to performing these stunts has resulted in significant injuries over the years, underscoring the risks involved.
