Gigi Hadid recently revealed that she auditioned for the lead role in Disney’s live-action remake of Tangled. The 30-year-old supermodel, who is best known for her work in fashion, stepped out of her comfort zone and took singing lessons to prepare for the audition. While she didn’t land the part, Gigi expressed pride in her performance.

“I was really proud of my scene,” Gigi shared during a conversation with Kendall Jenner for Vogue magazine. “The singing… I knew they were going to go with a real singer, but I’ll show you my audition scene later.” Kendall responded enthusiastically: “I’m stoked. I need to see.”

Project Paused, Casting Unconfirmed

The live-action adaptation of Tangled, originally set to be directed by The Greatest Showman’s Michael Gracey, has reportedly been paused indefinitely. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Disney is re-evaluating its approach to upcoming live-action remakes. As casting was never officially announced, it remains unclear who, if anyone, had been selected to play Rapunzel.

Corey Mylchreest’s Flynn Rider Audition Also Faltered

Gigi isn’t the only star who tried and failed to join the project. My Oxford Year actor Corey Mylchreest, 27, also auditioned—for the role of Flynn Rider. However, like Gigi, his singing didn’t meet Disney’s expectations.

“I auditioned for Tangled,” Corey told Seventeen magazine. “We don’t have the footage anymore. I deleted it, and then I burnt it… They told me they wanted someone with singing experience.”
