Senegalese-American singer Akon has arrived in India for his highly anticipated three-city India tour, marking his grand return to the country. On Sunday afternoon, a video surfaced on social media showing Akon landing in Delhi with his wife Tomeka Thiam, ahead of his concert at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.
The video, shared by several paparazzi accounts, captured the couple greeting the media after a long flight. When asked about his excitement to be back, Akon smiled and said, “It’s been a long flight, I’m tired,” while Tomeka added warmly, “India, we love you!” The Delhi concert, scheduled to begin at 5 PM, has generated massive buzz, prompting the Delhi Traffic Police to issue an advisory restricting movement around JLN Stadium between 4 PM and 11 PM. Heavy Transport Vehicles (HTVs) will not be permitted between JLN Stadium Red Light and B.P. Marg during that period to manage the crowd.
After his Delhi show, Akon will perform in Bengaluru on November 14, 2025, and Mumbai on November 16, 2025. The tour, organized by District, has been described as one of the most awaited music events of the year, promising high-energy performances and unforgettable fan experiences across all three cities.
Akon’s previous visit to India was during the pre-wedding celebrations of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant, where his electric performance of “Chammak Challo” from Ra.One went viral. Sharing the stage with Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan, Akon called it the “best pre-wedding party of the year.” The event featured Bollywood stars including Gauri Khan, Suhana Khan, and Sukhbir, turning the night into a spectacular celebration.
With his India tour now underway, fans in Delhi, Bengaluru, and Mumbai can look forward to experiencing Akon’s iconic hits live, making it a standout event on the 2025 entertainment calendar.
