Madonna is marking the 40th anniversary of her hit single “Dress You Up,” originally released on July 31, 1985, with a special digital re-release. The revamped edition includes three versions: a remix edit, a 12-inch formal mix, and a casual instrumental mix. The song, which was the final single from her iconic Like a Virgin album, continues to be a fan favorite and a symbol of her enduring influence on pop music and fashion.
Tribute to Mario Paglino and Gianni Grossi
The anniversary release is dedicated to Mario Paglino and Gianni Grossi, two beloved Barbie doll designers and longtime Madonna superfans. Tragically, the couple—partners in both life and work—died in a car crash in Italy just days before the anniversary. According to Sky TG24, the accident occurred on the A4 Turin-Milan highway when an 82-year-old man, Egidio Ceriano, drove in the wrong direction for an extended time. All three individuals died in the collision.
Madonna honored the duo in a heartfelt message, saying, “Thank you for dressing up so many of your creations in Madonna’s iconic looks over the years.”
Barbie and Collector Community Mourn Loss
The Barbie team also paid tribute to Paglino and Grossi on Instagram, describing them as “treasured creators and Mattel collaborators.” Known as Magia2000, the duo began designing custom Barbie dolls in 1999 and became widely respected in the collector world. Their contributions extended beyond art, as they often donated dolls for charity auctions and led the Italian Doll Convention in Milan.

“Barbie is better because they loved the brand,” the team said, adding that their legacy would live on through the joy they brought to the global collector community.
