Miley Cyrus has officially announced her long-awaited ninth studio album, Something Beautiful, which will be released on May 30, 2025, through Columbia Records. The pop star broke the news on Instagram, unveiling the album cover and giving a glimpse of the project’s edgy aesthetic.

The cover of the album, which was taken by acclaimed fashion photographer Glen Luchford, has Miley posing in a breathtaking 1997 Thierry Mugler couture gown. The image is of her dramatically posed in front of the moon and nighttime sky, with an aura of drama and mystique. The picture is an ideal representation of the album’s dramatic, glamorous, and cinematic visual narrative. Something Beautiful will contain 13 original songs and is executive produced by Cyrus herself and Shawn Everett.

Inspiration Behind Something Beautiful
In a Harper’s BAZAAR cover story, Miley revealed that Something Beautiful was inspired by the classic rock movie The Wall by Pink Floyd. She remembered sitting down to watch the movie with her brother and a friend during her teenage years, which became an intense emotional experience. Cyrus went on to say, “My vision was creating The Wall, but with a more stylish wardrobe and more glamorous and pop culture-filled.” The album will integrate high-fashion imagery with poignant storytelling and a strong musical influence.
Miley’s Musical Journey
This album comes on the heels of Cyrus’ 2023 hit, Endless Summer Vacation, which included hit single “Flowers.” Cyrus won two Grammy Awards for that song and earned the distinction of being the first song ever to surpass 100 million streams in one week on Spotify.
