South Korean rapper and music producer PSY has come under investigation following a police search and seizure operation at his agency, P Nation. According to Yonhap News, the Seodaemun Police Station in Seoul conducted the raid on December 4 as part of an ongoing probe into alleged improper prescription practices.
Authorities are reportedly investigating whether PSY received medications without following legally required medical procedures. The case also involves a professor from a university hospital who is suspected of prescribing drugs without conducting proper in-person consultations. The medications under scrutiny include Xanax and Stilnox—both classified as controlled substances commonly prescribed for anxiety, depression, and sleep disorders.
Due to their potential for dependence and misuse, South Korean medical regulations require these drugs to be prescribed only after direct, face-to-face consultations. Police allege that PSY may have received prescriptions without personally attending consultations, with medications allegedly collected by his manager or other intermediaries.
In response, P Nation confirmed that it is fully cooperating with authorities. In an official statement, the agency said it complied with all investigative requests and will continue to take necessary steps in accordance with legal procedures. At the same time, representatives for the “Gangnam Style” star strongly denied any wrongdoing.
According to PSY’s agency, the artist has been diagnosed with a chronic sleep disorder and has been undergoing treatment under medical supervision. They firmly rejected claims of proxy prescriptions, emphasizing that PSY did not receive medication under another person’s name nor misuse any prescribed drugs.
The agency further explained that PSY began using remote medical consultations during the COVID-19 pandemic, a practice that was legally permitted at the time. Due to his demanding professional schedule, the singer reportedly continued remote consultations even after restrictions eased. While the agency acknowledged there may have been “an aspect of negligence” in continuing this approach, it maintained that all prescriptions were issued as part of a legitimate treatment plan.
The hospital involved in the investigation has declined to comment, citing the ongoing nature of the case. However, the attending physician reportedly stated that the remote consultations were conducted in accordance with accepted medical standards and were medically justified.
PSY, who achieved global stardom with his viral 2012 hit “Gangnam Style,” now finds himself under heightened scrutiny as the investigation continues. While no formal charges have been announced, fans and industry observers are closely monitoring developments surrounding the case.
As authorities continue to review evidence collected during the raid, the situation remains unresolved, with both sides standing firmly by their accounts.
