The much-anticipated historical film Chhaava helmed by Laxman Utekar, stars Vicky Kaushal, Rashmika Mandanna, and Akshaye Khanna. The film is poised for a serious opening at the box office. With its advance ticket sales already buoying up to gallant numbers, as many as 225,000 tickets on the opening day itself have been pre-booked in India across three major chains: PVR Inox and Cinepolis. PVR Inox is responsible for 170,000 tickets, with 45,000 from Cinepolis.
With pre-bookings in focus, Chhaava plans to earn Rs 20-22 crore on Day 1, Â making for the biggest Bollywood opening of 2025 thus far. But if spot bookings and walk-in trade turn out to be healthy, there could be some surpassing of these estimates. Yet, whatever the good start, its long-run spell at the box office relies on audience reception and how strong the content comes across as.
A Period Drama and Towers of Expectations
Chhaava is a gritty narrative of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, the great Maratha warrier and sprightly son of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Hype is roasting as wildly as possible among its audience, although with market experts proposing it glassy revenue with out-of-the-box European intervention, such revenues are suspected to be faked in trickery to create some buzz in the social networks.
