Deva, starring Shahid Kapoor and Pooja Hegde, was released on January 31, 2025, but has faced a sluggish start at the box office. After completing its first four days, the action thriller directed by Rosshan Andrrews earned Rs 19.65 crore during its opening weekend. Despite a slight boost on Sunday, thanks to BUY-ONE-GET-ONE offers on BookMyShow, the film continued to show slow growth, particularly on Day 4, the first Monday after its release.
Deva is competing with Sky Force, but its performance hasn’t been significantly impacted by the Akshay Kumar film. However, the competition will intensify in the coming week with Loveyapa and Badass Ravikumar releasing alongside re-releases of Padmaavat and Sanam Teri Kasam. These films could further affect Deva’s box office collection.

The film, an adaptation of Rosshan Andrrews’s 2013 Malayalam film Mumbai Police, stars Shahid Kapoor as Dev Ambre, a fearless cop, while Pooja Hegde plays his love interest, Diya, a journalist. Despite its potential, Deva has struggled to gain traction at the box office. The adaptation factor has been cited as one reason for the film’s underperformance, with the audience not responding as strongly as expected.
Shahid’s previous release in 2024, Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya, performed better than Deva, highlighting the relatively low buzz around the film. This marks Shahid and Pooja’s first collaboration, and Rosshan Andrrews’s directorial debut in Hindi cinema, but it seems to have failed to captivate the audience as anticipated.
