Weekend winner! Sky Force collects ₹61 cr in 3 days – Akshay Kumar’s film is unstoppable

Sky Force was off to a mixed start but has promising growth over its first weekend, so the journey to the box office is all set. This Akshay Kumar and Veer Pahariya film raked in ₹12.25 crore on the opening day, which is somewhat less than expected for the scale of this film. Still, it rose 80% on Saturday with ₹22 crore. By Sunday, the film’s earnings moved ahead further to ₹27.50 crore, thus taking its first weekend total to a strong ₹61.75 crore at the box office of the country.

While the makers claim the film has garnered over ₹40 crore in two days, a final figure at the end will suggest a near ₹70-crore number for the weekend. Sky Force managed decent numbers worldwide as well- $600K (about ₹5 crore)-in its two days. In most Akshay Kumar movies, though, the money is set to come more from India.

The film’s growth can be attributed to positive word-of-mouth and favorable reviews from critics. Directed by Abhishek Anil Kapur and Sandeep Kewlani, Sky Force is inspired by the 1965 Indo-Pakistani air war’s Sargodha airbase attack. Featuring Akshay Kumar, Veer Pahariya, Sara Ali Khan, Sharad Kelkar, and a cameo from Nimrat Kaur, the film should do well if it can not drop too drastically on Monday as that will make all the difference in determining the long-term run at the box office.
