Captain America: Brave New World continues to go strong at the US box office, overtaking Marvel’s 2021 domestic total for the film Eternals. Currently, Brave New World has a domestic total of USD 166.1 million, ahead of Eternals, which wrapped its run at USD 164.9 million.
Strong Mid-Week Performance
The third Tuesday takes were somewhat stronger than anticipated for Brave New World, totaling USD 1.6 million, which is a 45% decline from the last week. This helped it move ahead of Eternals and move nearer to Captain America: The First Avenger’s US total of USD 176.7 million. Compared to other Captain America movies, the third Tuesday revenues of Brave New World sit amongst Sonic the Hedgehog (USD 1.6M), outperforming Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (USD 1.3M) and Fifty Shades of Grey (USD 980K). Yet, it still trails behind Black Panther (USD 6.3M) and Deadpool (USD 2.9M).
Clear Path to Continued Success
With no major competition until the opening of Snow White on March 21, Brave New World has an open path to keep its successful streak going. Industry projections estimate that the film may close its domestic total between USD 195 million and USD 215 million.
The movie features Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson, who becomes Captain America, and an ensemble cast that includes Harrison Ford, Carl Lumbly, Tim Blake Nelson, Liv Tyler, and Shira Haas.
