Tom Cruise is ready to make a comeback to the silver screen with Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, the long-awaited last installment of the worldwide favorite action series. Directed by Christopher McQuarrie, the movie also features Hayley Atwell, Simon Pegg, and Ving Rhames. Releasing in India on May 17, the movie has already generated buzz with its high advance booking figures.
Advance Bookings Show Promise
As of May 14 at noon, the movie has sold a whopping 45,000 tickets in India’s top national chains—PVR Inox and Cinepolis—for Day 1 shows. With three days remaining before release, this figure is likely to jump big time as word builds and more screens are added.
Fan Mania, Last Chapter Driving Demand
The Mission: Impossible series and actor Tom Cruise have developed a cult following in India over the decades. Since this is the end of the chapter in the series, interest at the box office is higher than ever before. Experts believe the film could outrun the pre-booking collection figures of Dead Reckoning, which scored a robust ₹105 crore plus lifetime collection with its opening figure in India.
Box Office Projections Are Robust
Expectations are that the movie might sell 1.25 to 1.5 lakh advance tickets, giving it a possibility of an opening day collection worth around ₹20 crore net. If the movie gets good reviews and good word-of-mouth, it can also cross ₹150 crore net through its run.
