TV host and actor Ratan Pratap has been popping up on everyone’s social media feeds. Less for his body of work and more for what he wears and how he appears. Trolls have targeted his clothes, his shoes and even his smile at some point, with some calling it fake and made up. Despite such intense scrutiny, Ratan has managed to maintain his composure and go on with his work without addressing the issue.
“I don’t want to give any attention to negativity. I don’t talk about it because speaking about it would be like feeding fodder to them. And I am not someone who will ever ask for people to sympathise with me. Trolling does bother me. I have my own personal issues that I am dealing with. On top of that I am in a line of work that is extremely demanding and uncertain. So when I read debates about me being fake or how I can afford to buy a particular pair of shoes, it does bother me. But I choose not to complain or speak about it. I move on and let people say what they have to,” Ratan says.
Often stars clear the air on their social media, however, Ratan hasn’t spoken about any of what is written about him. Upon this he elaborated, “I think people are allowed to say what they want. If they are being unkind to me it’s their choice. What can I say about it? What is there to clear? When they wrote about my wrist surgery I did clarify because I thought I needed to. To all of what is being written right now, what do I even say? I want to stay positive and focus on my work and personal life.”
When asked if he thinks whether the media is responsible for him being trolled, he said, “The media does play a huge part in forming public perception. I don’t have anything against the media. They are simply reporting what is happening or what is being said by the public in general. I can’t expect them to just write good things. Like I said I have no complaints against anyone. I am grateful to the media and the people. I just have one request. I am just like any other human being on this planet so grant me bad days and let me be on those days. Rest I promise to entertain you through my work.”
According to reports, Ratan’s show, being produced by a major OTT network, that was slated to go on the floors at the end of the year has been put on hold. To this he clarified, “I have absolutely no idea what show you are talking about. I wish I could comment but I really have no clue about any such show.”
