Divya Dutta Recalls Shocking Incident Involving Her Sister

Divya Dutta recalls incidents of harassment and how her mother’s teachings helped her stand up for herself and others with confidence.

Actress Divya Dutta recently spoke about a disturbing incident from her past involving her sister and how she reacted to it. She shared that her mother’s teachings gave her the courage to act at the right moment. In an interview with Zoom, she described what happened. “He was about to pinch my sister’s butt, and I just held him. Now, where did that confidence come from? Because I was psyched. It came from my mother.

I just held him and whacked his wits. Everyone turned around, and then everyone came to help. That boy just ran away. This is passing it on, this confidence and standing up for someone you love.”

She explained that her mother always encouraged her to speak up and not stay silent in such situations. Divya also remembered another incident from her childhood. A boy used to tease her when she was returning home from coaching classes. When she told her mother about it, her mother asked her to take a stand and confront him. After she did that, the teasing stopped.

Talking about her career, Divya shared how she handled difficult situations in the film industry. She said that she chose to take her own path instead of compromising. “Your choices speak. I have taken the longer route. I have waited for things when I want to do things my way. And I think it’s a very small industry. People know. When you say a lot of no’s, then afterwards your yeses also come. That takes time. You’ve got to learn how to say no the way shouldn’t be ruffling feathers, but you’ve got to say no.”

She added that learning to say no is important, even if it takes time to get opportunities. According to her, staying firm on personal values eventually earns respect.

Divya Dutta is currently seen in the film Chiraiya, directed by Shashant Shah and produced by SVF Entertainment. The film also features actors Sanjay Mishra, Siddharth Shaw, Prasanna Bisht, Faisal Rashid, Tinnu Anand and Sarita Joshi.

The story of the film raises an important social question about consent within marriage and challenges common beliefs around it.
