NETFLIX’S NEXT BIG HIT? Delhi Crime Season 3 to Explore the Shocking Baby Falak Case

Netflix India’s hit show Delhi Crime is coming back with its highly awaited third season, and this time around, DIG Vartika Chaturvedi, who is played by Shefali Shah, will deal with one of the most horrific real-life cases in recent Indian history. The new series takes inspiration from the heart-wrenching Baby Falak Case, which shook the country in 2012 because of its gruesome aspects and strong connection with human trafficking.

Based on a Real-Life Horror

In January 2012, a two-year-old girl named Falak was brought to AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Sciences) in Delhi with serious injuries, including broken limbs, bite wounds, and extensive head trauma. She was brought by a teenage girl who presented herself as Falak’s mother. The horrific nature of the injuries raised immediate suspicion in doctors, who called in the police.

As probes went deeper, a shocking truth was unearthed: the young girl was not Falak’s mother but a victim of trafficking herself. She had been manipulated by an elderly man and forced to take care of Falak. The case soon snowballed, revealing a massive trafficking racket of child abuse, forced prostitution, and clandestine marriages across state lines.

Returning Cast and a New Face

Shefali Shah returns to play the capable DIG Vartika Chaturvedi, taking charge with her single-minded team played by Rasika Dugal, Rajesh Tailang, and Adil Hussain. All of them embark on a high-pressure investigation that takes them through a complex maze of white-collar crime, emotional abuse, and institutional disinterest.

Along this season is Huma Qureshi, whose powerful performances in Gangs of Wasseypur, Maharani, and Dedh Ishqiya have made her a darling of critics. She features as Meena, a ruthless trafficker who embodies the nefarious heart of the criminal world that the team is hell-bent on destroying.
