Rakt Bramhand — The Bloody Kingdom, Netflix India’s ambitious action-fantasy series, is facing serious production setbacks following reports of financial mismanagement. First announced in July 2024 with Raj & DK as creators and Tumbbad’s Rahi Anil Barve directing, the show promised a gripping saga set in a fantastical kingdom. But now, four months after reports of financial fraud surfaced, the project appears to be in jeopardy.
Allegations of Fraud and Budget Chaos
According to a PeepingMoon.com exclusive, the series encountered major financial irregularities during production. The show’s original executive producer has been accused of mishandling funds and failing to maintain accurate accounts. This discovery triggered an internal investigation and brought production to a halt.
Netflix responded by appointing a new executive producer, previously associated with high-profile banners like Aamir Khan Productions and Excel Entertainment. A recent closed-door meeting with Raj & DK and the new team reportedly revealed a stark mismatch between the projected and actual costs, raising red flags about the show’s viability.
Production Halted, Cast Moves On
Although Netflix officially describes the project as “delayed,” insiders reveal that Rakt Bramhand has been put on indefinite hold. With estimated costs nearing ₹200 crore and roughly 26 days of footage now deemed unusable due to script rewrites, the financial burden of restarting from scratch is significant. Netflix, known for shelving risky projects even after substantial investment, appears hesitant to move forward.
Adding to the uncertainty, lead actors Aditya Roy Kapur, Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Ali Fazal, and Wamiqa Gabbi have reportedly taken up other projects, unsure if or when the series will resume filming.
Creators Remain Hopeful — For Now
In a statement provided by Netflix, creators Raj & DK remained optimistic:
“This is an ambitious epic project unfolding over multiple schedules. We just finished most of our indoor talkie schedule, and we are now prepping for the next big schedule that is mostly outdoors and action. The plan is to wait for the rains to clear for a suitable filming window. We also need lush greens for this period piece. So yeah, we are prepping for the next big action schedule,”
Despite their hopeful tone, the reality on the ground suggests the future of Rakt Bramhand is precarious. As financial concerns mount and production remains stalled, it’s uncertain whether this ambitious fantasy drama will ever reach viewers’ screens.
