The trailer of Toaster has been released by Netflix, giving a look into a dark comedy story led by Rajkummar Rao and Sanya Malhotra. The film is set to premiere on April 15. The story focuses on a character named Ramakant, played by Rajkummar Rao. He is shown as someone who is very careful about money and does not like wasting anything he has spent on. This habit becomes the main point of the story when a toaster he had gifted at a wedding is not used. What starts as a small concern soon becomes an obsession, as he tries to get the toaster back.
As shown in the trailer, his actions begin to create problems for himself and others around him. The situation slowly turns chaotic, with one event leading to another. The film uses this simple idea to explore how a small habit can grow into something much bigger and difficult to control.
The film is directed by Vivek Das Chaudhary and produced by Patralekhaa under their production house Kampa Film. Along with the lead actors, the film also features Archana Puran Singh, Abhishek Banerjee, Farah Khan, Upendra Limaye, Jitendra Joshi and Seema Pahwa in important roles.
Talking about the film, Rajkummar Rao said, “This is a special one for me as it marks our first film under our production house, Kampa Film and produced by Patralekhaa. I’m truly excited to bring this story to audiences. What really drew me to Toaster was how something so small can completely take over a person’s mind.”
He further explained his character and added, “Ramakant is someone who genuinely believes he’s doing the right thing. He doesn’t see his actions as extreme, he sees them as practical. But that’s exactly what makes the journey so unpredictable. It’s a story that comes from a very real place, and watching that sincerity spiral into chaos is what makes the film both engaging and entertaining.”
The film presents a simple and relatable idea about saving money but takes it to an extreme level. With a mix of humour and serious moments, Toaster aims to show how everyday behaviour can sometimes lead to unexpected consequences.
