Sameer Wankhede Files Defamation Case Against Red Chillies, Netflix

IRS officer Sameer Wankhede has moved the Delhi High Court with a defamation suit against Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment and Netflix; alleges defamatory content and objectionable scenes; matter is sub-judice.

IRS officer Sameer Wankhede has filed a defamation suit before the Delhi High Court against Red Chillies Entertainment Pvt. Ltd., owned by actor Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan, as well as Netflix and others, over the recently released web series ‘Ba***ds of Bollywood’.

According to media reports, Wankhede has sought reliefs in the nature of a permanent and mandatory injunction, declaration, and damages of ₹2 crore. The damages, as per his plea, are proposed to be donated to Tata Memorial Cancer Hospital for the treatment of cancer patients.

The petition alleges that the Netflix series, produced by Red Chillies Entertainment, contains false and defamatory content that maligns his reputation and portrays anti-drug enforcement agencies in a negative light.

It has further been stated that certain scenes in the show—including one where a character allegedly makes an obscene gesture after reciting the slogan “Satyamev Jayate”—are objectionable and may be in violation of provisions of the Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act, 1971, the Information Technology Act, and other laws.
