Khauf X (Twitter) Review: Chum Darang gets massive praise for her outstanding performance

Khauf, the new Indian horror-thriller series, has officially gone live on Amazon Prime Video. Starring Bigg Boss 18 contestant Chum Darang and Monika Panwar, along with Rajat Kapoor, the series is Chum’s debut project since her reality TV days. With Indian horror content still quite scarce, fans were waiting with bated breath for this release—and it hasn’t let them down.

Chum Darang’s Powerful Debut Post-Bigg Boss

Chum Darang acts as Svetlana, and her fans eagerly binge-watched the show and posted their reactions on X (formerly Twitter). One of the excited viewers posted, “Just finished #Khauf… being a horror/thriller buff, I won’t say I was scared, but I got goosebumps. It kept me engaged till the end. So proud of you @chumdarang.”

Another fan swooned,”So binge-watched #Khauf yesterday. Loved #ChumDarang as Svetlana! Hopefully, she’ll now get the recognition she deserves.”

The fans complimented her spine-tingling performance and wished for more significant roles in the future.

A Haunting Story with a Deeper Message

Produced by Smita Singh and directed by Pankaj Kumar and Surya Balakrishnan, Khauf is a mix of supernatural horror and social commentary. The show provides traditional horror fare jump scares, exorcisms, and creepy imagery—but also explores darker, more unsettling themes.

One Free Press Journal reviewer pointed to this quality, writing: “Underneath its jump frights, Khauf is about the terror women endure to be hunted, haunted, and silenced. Society’s true fear is the silence they are required to keep.”

Critics & Audience Both Applaud

The show has seen largely positive critiques from viewers as well as reviewers, with notable performances, particularly by Chum Darang, being a particular highlight. Khauf can now be streamed on Amazon Prime Video, and it’s already causing ripples in the Indian horror genre.
