Veteran director Ridley Scott is in talks to helm graphic novel adaptation 'Queen & Country'.

Scott will also produce the project with Chernin Entertainment if the deal closes, reports hollywoodreporter.com.

The comic book series from Greg Rucka is based on a British Secret Intelligence Service operative named Tara Chace, one of a group of three field operatives dedicated to preserving British intelligence internationally whose identity is compromised following an assassination.

Illustrated by artists including Chris Samnee, Carla Speed McNeil and Bryan Lee O'Malley, the series ran for 32 issues from 2001 to 2007 and won an Eisner Award for best new series in 2002.

Ellen Page was at one time set to star in the film, when it had a script from screenwriter Ryan Condal, whose draft followed scripts written by John Rogers and Rucka.

However, the current status of the script is unknown.

Kanye West’s Yeezy clothing label in legal trouble

Rapper Kanye West's Yeezy clothing company has been sued for allegedly using another brand's camouflage print.

Jordan Outdoor Enterprises filed a lawsuit against the rapper-turned-designer's label on Thursday, claiming that Yeezy's camouflage print is an unauthorised copy of their Realtree collection, reports people.com.

The alleged copycat pattern was used as a part of West's Season 5 line for hoodies, bomber jackets, shirts, cargo pants and thigh-high boots. NBA players LeBron James' brand Unknwn is also named in the lawsuit for selling the Yeezy clothes.

West's wife and muse Kim Kardashian was photographed wearing a version of the print in January.

In court documents, Jordan said that a representative from Yeezy reached out to Jordan in March 2016 with inquiries about their camouflage design. However, communication between the brands ceased after the subject of licensing was brought up by Jordan, according to the lawsuit.

Jordan is also accusing Yeezy of removing its trademarks from the original camouflage print without official license or authorisation prior to copying.

Prachi Desai: An actor is always open to experiment

0

Actress Prachi Desai, who will be seen in a dark urban fantasy film titled KOSHA, says an actor is always open to experiment with new genres.

Asked if she is looking for an image change with KOSHA, Prachi told IANS: "There is nothing called image change since every script has a different appeal and 'Kosha' is something that struck a chord with me on the script and characterisation level itself. An actor is always open to experimenting with new genres.

The actress says an urban dark fantasy is something that she was looking to do.

"Every film I believe takes something from you or you end up giving something to it and KOSHA gave me the opportunity to explore a new side all together with action to colouring my hair purple," she added.

KOSHA revolves around a disruptive girl who is a rock band member with a history of alcohol and substance abuse.

Talking about her role, she said: "Yes, I will be seen playing a singer/rock star and I always was keen to learn an instrument. This film helped me pick up the guitar. It covers a real dark space of a rock star who is going through her own ups and downs in life and the film weaves the journey beautifully."

Abhinay Deo: Irrfan is a master in doing less to express more

0

As Abhinay Deo gears up to launch "Badla", a song that extensively features Irrfan Khan from his film BLACKMAIL, he says the actor — mostly known for intense roles — has his own way to make a funny scene "hilarious".

Of late, one has seen glimpses of Irrfan's innate ability to slip into roles with a comical streak in PIKU and HINDI MEDIUM as opposed to his more serious side in past films.

Deo, who enjoyed directing the National Award winner in BLACKMAIL, told IANS: "According to me, for an actor, comedy is the most difficult genre to pull off. It is all about timing and in this territory Irrfan is one of the best.

"It was such a joy to watch him convert a scene which was funny on paper to hilarious as he performed it live. He is a master in doing less to express more. In this film, he had very few lines and that makes it very difficult as everything depends on his expressions.

"You have to watch the film to see a great actor at his best with that."

Irrfan has been out of action since sometime, and he announced earlier this month that he is suffering a "rare disease". But he did not want the release of BLACKMAIL to be pushed owing to his inability to promote it. So, the makers are going ahead and giving it the "best release" as scheduled on April 6 as per Irrfan's wish.

The film's third song comes out on Friday.

"The 'Badla' song is something which is kind of a theme song of Irrfan's character in the movie. You would understand it better when you see the song.

"Common sense would say why are we doing the event when our principal protagonist is physically not present, but we as makers want to talk about the song in detail. And we would discuss certain facts which become very important in terms of Irrfan's performance and his contribution to the film," he said.

BLACKMAIL also features Kirti Kulhari, Divya Dutta, Arunoday Singh, Omi Vaidya, Anuja Sathe, Pradhuman Singh Mall and Gajraj Rao.

It is produced by T-Series' Bhushan Kumar and Deo's RDP Motion Pictures.

Why did they not consider shifting the film's release date?

"Irrfan doesn't want us to postpone the film. Bhushan Kumar and I will make sure that BLACKMAIL gets the best possible release. The onus of marketing and releasing the film is now onto us.

"We took the decision of launching the song only after meeting Irrfan. When I met him, he was very curious to know about the trailer, songs and the dialogue promos that we would be making.

"His only request was that the film should get the best possible release and it should not suffer because of his absence."

In the past, Deo has helmed films like GAME, DELHI BELLY and FORCE 2. He also directed Anil Kapoor's thrilling TV series "24".

He says he will direct for the small screen again for sure.

"Yes, I will direct for TV again for sure. TV reaches out to a large audience and I think it is one of the most influencing mediums. I would love to make content that challenges peoples intellect, A inspires and educates the viewer socially."

Bipasha Basu: Modelling has become a serious profession now

0

Actress Bipasha Basu, who started her career as a model before tasting success in Bollywood, says that modelling as a profession has become very serious and challenging now.

"It has become a very serious profession. The field always required great personality so it's a challenging profession. Those who are entering must look after their health, eat right and be fit," Bipasha told IANS when asked about the changed modeling profession now.

The actress walked for designers Karishma and Deepa Sondhi for their line "Rasbhari".

The latest offering of the designer duo celebrated the joy of being a modern Indian woman. The silhouettes were contemporary yet rooted in tradition with splashes of colours that invoked the feeling of a garden in full bloom.

Handcrafted embroideries and textures, an expertise of this designer duo, recreated the beauty of nature in all its feminine glory, using a pot-pourri of crystal beads, French knots, cutdana, threadwork, doriwork, glass and metal beads, and a playful twist on tassles were the highpoint of the entire presentation.

Bipasha, looking like a diva in a red coral lehanga and blouse, was happy to be back in the capital.

"I am very happy to be here and lovely being back to new delhi. The backstage chaos was amazing and I used to feel the same thrill when I was modeling," she said.

She also credits models for doing an amazing work with clothes.

"Inspite of so much of madness at the backstage, they just make everything look so beautiful and surreal," she said.
