Mini Mathur: My kids are balanced about exposure

0

Television presenter Mini Mathur, whose travel tales of Europe with her 7-year-old daughter, will be showcased in a 10-part series ‘Mini Me’ on the small screen, says both her children are not adversely affected by the exposure they receive due to their celebrity parents.

Mini, who is married to popular filmmaker Kabir Khan, has two children — daughter Sairah and son Vivaan, 13.

The growing paparazzi culture has put the spotlight on celebrity children in showbiz like never before.

Most celebrities try to shield their children from the limelight, so what made Mini choose to do a show with her young one?

“When my kids were small, every Bollywood person or everybody would keep their kids away from the glare of the cameras and would shield their photographs. But this is 2018, and Taimur Ali Khan has a big following, and all children have their Instagram accounts.

“We would be running behind if we felt that by not putting their faces on camera, we would be saving them from the exposure. As far as my kids are concerned, everybody who comes home is a TV or a film star… So, my kids are very balanced. If I knew it would affect them in anyway adversely, I would not attempt it,” Mini told IANS over phone from Mumbai.

Her show ‘Mini Me’, to air on lifestyle channel TLC, showcases the mother-daughter duo travel across multiple countries in Europe, trying food halts and doing some not-so touristy things.

In the unique travelogue, they will be seen travelling through Germany, France, Italy, Greece, Montenegro, Croatia and Spain.

The show is also produced by Mini.

She says it was daunting and was a tough learning process.

“But it felt like I went to film school,” she quipped.

HATE STORY 4 Movie Review: Utterly Cheesy and Ridiculous

0

He chases a woman and says, “I’m somebody who can get anybody but I want nobody apart from your body.”. his big brother gives an advice, “Tu dil jeet lega, who jism de degi” (rough translation – win her heart, body will be yours). A woman comes out from a pool in a two piece and says, “Pata nahi mere honthon ko tumne kya rishwat di hai … mujhse zyada tumhari sunte hai” (I wonder what spell you have casted on my lips, they listen to you more than they listen to me). The guy in response, “mujhe bhi apne honthon se yehi shikayat hai” (I have the same complaint with my lips). Director Vishal Pandya – is this a feature film or something else..

Whatever HATE STORY 4 is, one thing is for sure, either you love it, or hate it but you cannot ignore it, franchises like HATE STORY 4 will be popping up till the existence of mankind and provide titillations to its target front benchers and earn money.

The story of HATE STORY that began in 2012 has already climbed 3 STOREYS till now. Interestingly we have a movie by the title 3 STOREYS also released this week. While 3 STOREYS has three plots and a sub plot in one film, HATE STORY in all its four series has the same plot idea of sex, erotica, badla, and cheese.

Only the oomph quotient changes and here the alleged wannabe Urvashi Rautelaji has in her jism and body rhythm (Dialogue writer Milap Zaveri sahab, rhyming can be done at will by us also janab). Anyways, Zaveri has gone all out over here with utterly cheesy lines that pop at a throw of a hat. Sample this, “ bistar ke chadar badle ja sakte hai, mashoka nahi’ (“You can change your bedsheets every day but not the lover who slept on it). Bedroom me kiye hue vaadon ki ahmiyat boardroom me nahi hoti (promises made in bed rooms doesn’t hold any significance in board meetings).

If you are interested in knowing the story of this cheesy, erotic glory, here it goes. Rajveer (Karan Wahi) and Aryan (Vivaan Bhatena) are sons of a business tycoon Mr Khurana (Gulshan Grover). Big brother Aryan is going steady with his associate Reshma (Ihana Dhillon). A requirement for a fresh face for a cosmetic brand introduces Tasha (Urvashi Rautela), to small brother Rajveer who is a photographer. Tasha shares her desire to be a star and obviously Rajveer helps her to realize her dreams.

Things take a cliché turn when a desire for Tasha develops in the mind of bade bhaiya Aryan and the rest is a cheesy and erotic revenge saga targeted to the audience who have given the confidence to the makers to churn four installments till now, don,t be surprised if you have the fifth. A line in the movie says it all, ‘ This is not a love story, this is a hate story and it has just began”.

Urvashi Rautela is the best choice, she may not have the right acting chips but she definitely has the oomph, Vivaan and Karan just pass the muster. Ihana Dhillon is okay. Gulshan Grover gets less scope. Himesh Reshammiya’s ‘Aashiq Banaya’ is wasted. A hit number is missing.

So, the moral of the story is we will keep hating, the target audience will continue loving till the date they decide to change their character and yell this line from the film, “I am the twist in the plot and I will make sure you lose.”. tab tak ( till then) HATE STORY 4 ko bhi success story banaya aapne.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali: When I made GUZAARISH on euthanasia, there was hue and cry

0

After the Supreme Court announced on Friday that a person has the right to die with dignity in case of an irreversible stage of terminal illness, filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali, who tackled the theme of euthanasia in GUZAARISH, has recounted that the subject had sparked a hue and cry when the movie released in 2010.

"I remember when I had made GUZAARISH, there was plenty of hue and cry over my plea to allow the irreversibly ailing to end their lives," Bhansali said.

GUZAARISH narrated the story of a quadriplegic hero's (Hrithik Roshan) plea for death.

Now another Hollywood film seems to have taken from the idea of happy-dying in GUZAARISH.

Andy Serkis' biopic Breathe is a real-life drama about Robin Cavendish who contracted polio at the age of 28 and defied doctors' doomsday declarations by outliving all the medical prophecies. Cavendish, played by Andrew Garfield, decides to end his life in a nice and happy surrounding inviting his closest friends and loved ones for a farewell party on the night before he pulls the plug on his life.

This was a scenario constructed in GUZAARISH much earlier where the quadriplegic Ethan (Hrithik) invites his close friends over for a happy send-off.

Aren't the similarities coincidental between two films made in two different continents and time zones?

Bhansali said: "I haven't seen Breathe. But the similarities must be unintentional."

GUZAARISH was based on someone close to Bhansali, he said. "Though I am no stranger to pain, what I saw in this person took pain and suffering to another level, I realised that there comes a point in every life when a full stop is the only solution."

While researching on the subject of euthanasia for the movie, Bhansali had let go off all temptation to watch films on the subject of mercy killing.

"I didn't want to get even remotely influenced in my thought and vision by what other filmmakers have done on the subject," he said.

Sohom Chakraborty, Arunima Ghosh unveil RONG BERONGER KORI trailer

0

Tollywood actors Sohom Chakraborty and Arunima Ghosh have launched the trailer of their upcoming Bengali film RONG BERONGER KORI in Kolkata recently.

The film is centred on changing colours and moral values of money in different parts of the society.

It will depict the various characters of the society and how they deal with money.

Throwing lights on the character played by him in the film, Sohom said: "My character in the film goes through a crisis. The film showcases how the character is struggling due to lack of money. He resides in the remotest part of Bengal."

Arunima said she had a great working relationship with Sohom in the film because of the comfort level between the two.

Arunima had played two different characters in the film.

The actress said it was very challenging to play the role of a tribal woman in the film.

She said: "It was very challenging because I had no idea of the languages spoken by tribal people. I am very happy playing the role. It would be the biggest reward to me if the audience loves the film."

Apart from Sohom and Arunima, Rituparna Sengupta, Chiranjeet, Kharaj Mukherjee, Ritwick Chakraborty will be seen playing distinct roles in the film.

Legendary actress and director Aparna Sen was the creative consultant of the film.

Speaking about the shooting experience with so many reputed actors, director Ranjan Ghosh said: "It was fantastic. Instead of directing them, I had only learnt from them. It was actually a role-reversal."

The film is slated to release on Mar 23.

TOMB RAIDER Movie Review : Strictly for the video game junkies

0

When it comes to transporting video games into cinema, Hollywood is still to learn the ‘game’. Continuing the trend of capitalizing on the brand and restricting to the demands of the mass, fan and nerds, TOMB RAIDER as a movie has nothing fresh and novel to offer, it borrows heavily from the 2013 reboot of the video game that starred Angelina Jolie and its predictable plus melodramatic.

It seems the idea was to target the younger generation so the superstar Angelina Jolie is replaced by the thirteen years younger and 2015 Oscar winning Swedish actor Alicia Vikander (THE DANISH GIRL). Vikander in comparison is raw but she lacks the invulnerability, the aura and she is not the superhuman we want. She is more human in the film which has more VFX than the previous one and less excitement.

Lara Croft (Alicia Vikander) is the fiercely independent daughter of an eccentric adventurer who vanished when she was scarcely a teen. Now a young woman of 21 without any real focus or purpose, Lara navigates the chaotic streets of trendy East London as a bike courier, barely making the rent, and takes college courses, rarely making it to class. Determined to forge her own path, she refuses to take the reins of her father Lord Croft (Dominic West) global empire just as staunchly as she rejects the idea that he’s truly gone. Advised to face the facts and move forward after seven years without him, even Lara can’t understand what drives her to finally solve the puzzle of his mysterious death. Going explicitly against his final wishes, she leaves everything she knows behind in search of her dad’s last-known destination: a fabled tomb of Japanese goddess on a mythical island with the help from of an alcoholic fisherman Lu Ren (Daniel Wu), the island might be somewhere off the coast of Japan.

Norwegian filmmaker Roar Uthaug doesn,t do much good to the character, the movie or the franchise. It’s a recycle bombarded with heavy VFX to make it appear bigger. The 2018 version lacks fresh characters and it’s bland as far as innovations are concerned.

Alicia Vikander is a gifted actress but as Lara Croft, she is bland. As said earlier, the movie is single mindedly designed for diehard fans and nerds and they may enjoy the heavy VFX.

Hollywood adopts comics in much better way and has given the delight from time to time but that day in video games is still to come. TOMB RAIDER is not more than a video game getting played on the silver screen, the nerds may love it but I have a suspicion they might wonder why the game is not played by them and why the remote is not in their hands.
