Actress Tejasswi Prakash, who plays a strong role in a show, says women of her generation are no longer weak. She believes in fighting for what's right.

In the ongoing track of the Sony Entertainment Television show "Rishta Likhenge Hum Naya", her character experiences eve-teasing.

"This particular scene was an interesting one as I got to fight eve-teasers. This moment was interesting for me because I can tackle such issues in real life as well. Girls of our generation are not to be taken lightly. They are independent, strong and confident," Tejasswi said in a statement.

Alicia Vikander’s biggest challenge in TOMB RAIDER

0

Oscar-winning actress Alicia Vikander says her role as Lara Croft in the forthcoming film TOMB RAIDER came with its challenges, and it was a scary experience for her.

"I had never taken on a character and a role in a film like this. I was a dancer, but I was not sure I could look real doing an MMA fight scene. I was almost like, please don't look. All eyes were on me and that was scary," Vikander said in a statement.

"But the biggest overall challenge was to make sure the film had both spectacle and heart," she added.

TOMB RAIDER is directed by Roar Uthaug and is produced by Oscar-winner Graham King under his GK Films banner. It also features Dominic West, Walton Goggins, Daniel Wu and Nick Frost.

TOMB RAIDER is based on a popular reboot of a video game with the same name. The Warner Bros Pictures project will release in India on Friday, a week before it opens in the US.

"I became interested when they told me that it was going to be inspired by the rebooted game, which was released in 2013. I did my research and realised that it was a very different take on Lara, and then my imagination began spinning. When I met with Roar, I realised we shared a vision for the film," she added.

In the film, Lara avoids using a gun, and instead relies on her wits. Vikander loved her personality traits.

"I loved that, and it was something we discussed early on. Lara uses her wits and what's around her," she added.

Ila Paliwal: A.R. Rahman is my inspiration

Classical singer Ila Paliwal says Oscar-winning composer A.R. Rahman is her inspiration, and she hopes to work with him again soon.

Rahman produced Paliwai's debut album "Navaratna", released in 2015.

"A.R. Rahman is not only the executive producer of 'Navaratna', but he is my mentor. It is different experience all together to work with Mr. Rahman, he is a legend. He stitches the music together like no one else, there is so much learning which happens when I associate with him," Paliwal told IANS.

"He is my inspiration. I always look forward for opportunity to work with him. I hope we collaborate soon and come up with yet another successful album. We are not only good friends but also share a mentor-mentee relationship," she added.

Paliwal feels geographical boundaries no longer exist due to digital evolution.

"I still feel the essence of our musical heritage needs more recognition globally. Having said that, I feel that globalisation and digitisation has extensively helped in spreading Indian music and culture in the west," said Paliwal, who stays in New York.

"Today, Bollywood films release globally and Indian music is accessible to people across the globe. People in the West really enjoy Indian folk and Bollywood music, bhangra and garba being the most famous and recognisable forms. In recent times, classical music has also gained a lot of appreciation in the West as there are many more festivals and concerts being organised around the world.

"However, more effort is needed to promote Indian classical music to be able to present it at prestigious venues around the globe."

Paliwal also won a RoundGlass Music Award in Best World Music Song category for "Holi" song.

As a musician, she now wants to explore jazz, blues and Latin beats.
