Sunidhi Chauhan: ‘The Remix’ gave importance to my music know-how, not looks

0

Singer Sunidhi Chauhan, who will be seen as a judge on digital reality show 'The Remix', says shooting for it while she was pregnant was easy-going and enjoyable as emphasis was given to her musical knowledge over her looks.

'The Remix', presented by Amazon Prime Video, will also feature composer Amit Trivedi and DJ Nucleya. It will start streaming on Friday.

Sunidhi was pregnant with her child. She delivered a boy in January.

"'The Remix' came to me at a very special stage in my life – when I was expecting my first child. It is heartening to receive a warm welcome by the creators of the show. Moreover, they made the working atmosphere as easy-going for me as possible – it did not feel like I was on set putting in many long hours.

"What is truly remarkable is the fact that the importance was given to my musical know-how, and not how I looked on screen," Sunidhi said in a statement.

Hosted by actor Karan Tacker, 'The Remix' will have 10 teams each comprising a singer and music producer, who create their own unique sound of music and compete against each other.

An Amazon Prime Original, the show is created and produced by Greymatter Entertainment.

Arbaaz Khan: DABANGG 3 will take a lot of my time, effort, concentration

DABANGG 3 will go on the floors in mid-2018, says actor-producer Arbaaz Khan, who is geared up to let the project take a lot of his time, effort and concentration.

Arbaaz attended a special screening of a short film titled #METOO here on Tuesday.

Asked if his production banner will focus on creating content for digital platform, Arbaaz said: "As of now, my concentration is on my production and on my next film because when I involve myself in a certain project, that time I need to have some time for and I personally get involved in it.

"So, after making my upcoming film, I do have plans to create content on digital platform — be it with a web series or short films… The options are pretty much open. As a producer, it is a wide spectrum of things that I want to do and for now, I am concentrating on DABANGG 3 which will go on floors mid this year. After that I will have more time because DABANGG 3 will take lot of my time, effort and concentration."

On short film #METOO, Arbaaz said, "It's an interesting short film. It is relevant with current #METOO campaign on social media. It is basically about women who come out in the open, talk about the experiences that they have had, not feel ashamed about what has happened and to expose the people who have done stuff like that.

"I think people who are along with the victims should support them like their partner or parents. It's an interesting film made on that topic."

Can such efforts bring about a change in people's thought process?

Arbaaz said: "I think people should find the courage because there is no point keeping mum about things. So, I guess you have to take a stand and fight against it if you have been exploited in any manner."

Wishing women for International Women's Day, which falls on Thursday, Arbaaz said: "Women are wonderful and I wish them all the very best for their future endeavours."

Filmmaker Shonali wishes to cast Fawad Khan

National award-winning filmmaker Shonali Bose says though she wishes to cast Pakistani actor Fawad Khan, she couldn't do it – in the face of calls for a "ban on Pakistani actors". According to her, such things should be stopped.

The filmmaker was part of a panel discussion — Controlling creativity: Is censorship relevant? –alongside veteran filmmaker Shyam Benegal at the Ficci Frames 2018 here on Tuesday.

Asked how the constant restrictions from the Central Board of Film Certification is affecting the creativity and freedom of expression, Shonali said: "Instead of taking action to protect the rights of women and project their image under the right light, they are restricting filmmakers from doing their work freely.

"Cinema should be free… For instance, Pakistani actors are not allowed to work in Indian films, and this decision is supported by Indian Motion Pictures Producers' Association. What if I want to make a film with Fawad Khan?

While the moderator of the panel mentioned that her comment might earn her the title of an "anti-national", she replied: "That is the problem with our country nowadays.

"I speak of friendship between two countries. I want to make a film with Fawad Khan and nobody will allow me to make the film; producer will not back the film because of the risk and fear that has been created around it."

The calls for banning Pakistani talent from working in the Hindi film industry first surfaced in 2016 when cross-border India-Pakistan tension spilled over into the entertainment world, with some Indian political outfits imposing a ban on Pakistanis and a few Pakistani theatres pulling down Indian movies from their big screens.

The ban came after the September 18 terror attack that killed 19 Indian soldiers in Uri in Jammu and Kashmir.

The issue resurfaced last month when Union Minister Babul Supriyo said that Pakistani singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan's voice in the song "Ishtehaar" in the Bollywood film WELCOME TO NEW YORK must be dubbed by someone else. Supriyo also demanded a ban on Pakistani artistes in Bollywood.
