Bollywood Superstar Salman Khan's 'the Da-Bangg Tour to Nepal', which was scheduled to take place in Kathmandu on March 10, has been called off citing threat from a section led by Netra Bikram Chand 'Biplav', according to the organisers.

Other Bollywood stars such as Sonakshi Sinha, Kriti Sanon, Prabhudheva, Daisy Shah, Meet Bros and Maniesh Paul were scheduled to join Salman at Tundikhel, Kathmandu.

The organisers Sohail Khan Entertainments and JA Events and the partner organiser from Nepal, ODC Entertainment on January 19 had jointly organised a press conference in Kathmandu to confirm Khan's arrival.

However, Netra Bikram Chand 'Biplav' of the CPN-Maoist, a splinter of CPN (Maoist Centre) last week had demanded cancellation of the show and called all the nationalist forces to unite and oppose against the even saying it amounts to 'expansion of cultural intervention on Nepali soil'.

Some top Nepalese artists and 110 other singers and dancers from Bollywood were also expected to be part of the show. An audience of 30,000 was expected to attend the show while the tickets were priced from Rs 3,000 to 30,000. The cost of the show was reported to mount Rs 50 million.

The tour, which kicked off last year, has already entertained several cities around the world, including Melbourne, Sydney, Auckland, London and Birmingham.

The organisers in Kathmandu said: "The show is just postponed for further dates and going to reschedule it very soon."

The CPN-Maoist also attacked the sponsors of the show, most of them liquor brands. "In a way, the programme is also promoting liquor which is not acceptable to us. We are against all kinds of globalisation bids," the statement said.

Malaika Arora: Fitness for me is a way of life

Actress Malaika Arora, who feels there is no substitute for a healthy body, says being fit is her oxygen.

"Fitness for me is a way of life. It is like my oxygen! Nothing else is truly yours than your own body, and there is no substitute for a healthy body. I would urge everyone to stay fit and invest at least 30 minutes each to staying fit. It doesn't take much," Malaika told IANS.

Malaika, who was the Max Bupa Power Walk Ambassador for the Power Walk event in Delhi last month, feels walking is a great overall workout in itself and has benefits beyond the physical.

What's her own fitness regime?

"Of late, Power Walk has become my snappy secret pre-workout routine. It is intense and requires a lot of stamina and energy, but yields great results. Not only does it tone up the body but also increases stamina. Apart from the right kind of exercise, it is also important to eat right," she said.

Malaika also walked on a Max Bupa PowerWalk machine that converts human calories/energy spent into electricity.

On the association, she said: "It is a great initiative that promotes fitness and the best part is, it's made for everyone. Usually, marathons attract semi or pro runners or people who are anyway health conscious."

PARI co-producer stunned by film’s ban in Pakistan

Evil has no religion, says PARI co-producer Prernaa Arora of KriArj Entertainment after the Bollywood horror film was banned in Pakistan for being against religious ethos.

According to Pakistan Censor Board chief Mobashir Hasan, PARI was declared unfit for public exhibition by a panel followed by Central Board of Film Censors' (CBFC) full board review as it "flouts various sections of the existing rules and code of CBFC" and "innumerable dialogues and scenes are against the established religious, social and moral ethos".

Arora, who has produced the movie with the film's lead actress Anushka Sharma's banner Clean Slate Films, said: "They (the Pakistan censor board) seem to be taking random decisions. How do we explain why they would think of Pari as anti-Islamic? Evil, which the film portrays, has no religion.

"We as a responsible production feel very strongly about causing offence to any community. Earlier, our co-production 'Pad Man' was banned in Pakistan for being anti-Islamic. Now 'Pari' is also anti-Islamic. Can they please define anti-Islamic? I have no doubt Pakistan will find my next release PARMANU: THE STORY OF POKHRAN also anti-Islamic."

PARMANU: THE STORY OF POKHRAN, co-produced by KriArj Entertainment and John Abraham, is about the nuclear test explosions conducted at Pokhran in 1998.
