0

SUPER 30 founder Anand Kumar says that National film award winner music director duo Ajay-Atul assured to give a distinctly different music in the film based on him starring Bollywood star Hrithik Roshan.

Kumar recently had talks with the music director-composer duo of Ajay-Atul, recipients of the best music direction award at the 56th National Film Awards.

"Ajay-Atul assured that music would have a lot of innovation to be distinctly differently," said Kumar.

"The music directors are known for coming up with different shades. They have something unique about them which the people like and the film on Super 30 will provide them just the right opportunity to be as much innovative as they want to be," he added.

Anand has already announced that the film would be dedicated to legendary mathematician Srinivas Ramanujan. The film is scheduled to release on November 23 this year.

Earlier, Kumar also had detailed discussions with film director Vikas Bahl and script writer Sunjay Dutt. Bahl and his team also visited Patna to capture the mood at the residence of Anand and Super 30.

Kumar said that it was good that right from the director to the music director they were engaged in making the film really good and I am confident the viewers will appreciate it on the silver screen.

"I have had detailed talks in this regard and the best people are at work," he added.

Ex-cine queens: History will remember ‘Padmavat’, hounding of Bhansali

"The nation has gone mad," said a furious Asha Parekh, the veteran actress who saw PADMAAVAT a few days back at a special screening organised by the director Sanjay Leela Bhansali.

"Believe me, I haven't been able to sleep. I am in a trance after watching the film," said Asha, an unabashed fan of Bhansali's work.

"The work he extracts from his actors… I wish I could become 30 years younger to play a Bhansali heroine. But having said that, I would like to congratulate Deepika Padukone for her performance.

"If today I had to make a film on Rani Padmavati, I would cast none other but Deepika," she said. Asha watched the special screening on Thursday.

"Her grace, when she dances or acts is simply commendable. Ranveer Singh is the epitome of evil… Every frame in the film is bewitching. And the 'Ghoomar' dance that they've objected to is so beautiful!" the veteran actress said.

"I wonder what the Karni Sena is shouting and raging about! There is nothing against the Rajputs in the film. Bhansali glorifies the community like no other film before.

"History will remember what Bhansali has achieved in 'Padmaavat'. History will also remember what we allowed some section to do to him for mistakes that he never made…

"Haan ek ghalti unhone zaror kee (Yes, there is one mistake that he definitely committed). He dared to make a film that can rival Mughal-e-Azam in vision and scale," she added.

Director Sanjay Leela Bhansali sees a lot of Waheeda Rehman in Deepika Padukone.

And Waheeda just cannot stop raving about PADMAAVAT. "Main kya kahoon? (What can I say?) I am short of words. This is a film that will be remembered forever. Every frame is perfect.

"Lagta hi nahin ke koi cheez asli nahin hai (It all appears so real that you forget its fiction). The way he lights every shot… As though he used no artificial light but only the sun, the moon and the torched flames that were used in those days."

Waheeda is specially enamoured by the songs and dances. "We've a rich tradition of dancing and singing in our country. We sing and we dance on every occasion.

"I've done some dancing myself that were well appreciated in films like 'Guide'. In the West, people in love head straight for the bed. In our cinema songs are a means to show love and romance."

"Sadly we don't have that much singing and dancing in our movies any more. All the music is put in the background.

"It's very reassuring to see the semi-classical heritage revived in Bhansali's films. Far from causing hurt or insult to any community, 'Padmaavat' makes us proud as Indians.

"We should be showering flowers on Bhansali, not pelting him and his film with stones," she added.

Hema Malini, who is a member of the ruling government, exercises all her self control from speaking out.

But she cannot help saying: "What is happening with Bhansali is not right at all. But I can't say too much. Or it will become a headline. But I'd like to say that all those who are stopping us Indians from watching this beautiful Indian film should be taken to task."

The Dream Girl calls PADMAAVAT a "dream come true".

"Every frame is a work of art, every scene a labour of love, every performance so pitch-perfect. Bhansali has paid such attention to details… The way Ranveer Singh's eyes are lit to convey evil… The peace and silence in Deepika's eyes. She is so beautiful and regal," Hema said.

"I've played Rajput princesses in Vijay Anand's 'Rajput' and Gulzar's 'Meera'. But Deepika is a class apart. I fell in love with the film. I hope and pray every Indian gets to see this masterpiece," she added.

Karan Johar: Don’t divide what is homosexual, heterosexual relationship

0

Filmmaker Karan Johar says he knows that the society looks at a relationship between homosexuals with a different lens, and understands how tough dealing with it can be.

The filmmaker expressed his views while talking about the fundamentals of dating amongst homosexuals on 'Calling Karan' on ISHQ 104.8 FM, a statement said.

"Firstly, I don't want you to divide what is homosexual and heterosexual. Let's talk about it as a relationship. Yes I do understand that there is a difference because of society and I know how tough it is. When it comes to a man dating a man, understand that men are different from women in that respect. It's not about orientation it's just the way men are cut out to be," Karan said.

"They don't like anyone who comes on so strong initially and even if women had to do the same they would back off. So sometimes you got to take it easy. If you meet someone on a coffee date allow him to take it on a dinner date and then into like sex. And after that don't immediately start painting the picture of a future," he added.

Talking about the dating perception amongst gay men, Karan said: "Don't be over-eager in the beginning. Allow a relationship to nurture as it takes a while. Stop trying to get married from the first time you meet them. You always feel 'ohh!! This is the one'.

"Just because your lover is good in bed and you have a great physical chemistry or conversation chemistry doesn't mean that they are your spouses for life. It just means that you are hitting it off and allow your relationship to breathe. Sometimes you yourself will realise that 'hey! This one is not worth it. It's not working out' or maybe you will realise that 'let me give it sometime'. And let me tell you, to look for monogamy in a gay relationship or for that matter any relationship in these days is not easy."

Ranveer Singh on PADMAAVAT: I saw Khilji as a challenge

0

Bollywood star Ranveer Singh, who has registered his biggest opening day collection with PADMAAVAT, says most people had told him that a hero shouldn't play the anti-hero. PADMAAVAT, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, registered opening day collections of Rs 19 crore net, according to producers Bhansali Productions and Viacom18 Motion Pictures. For Ranveer, whose previous best opening day records were for GUNDAY (Rs 16.12 crore net) and "GOLIYON KI RAASLEELA RAM LEELA (Rs 16 crore net), playing a merciless anti-hero Alauddin Khilji was a gamble. Ranveer said in a statement, ”It is extremely rare and overwhelming to get this kind of love from the audience. I'm grateful and touched that everyone has been so appreciative of my performance."

While the critics have lauded that Ranveer has given one of the best villains to Bollywood through his performance, the actor said: "I will be honest — when I was offered Padmaavat, most people were of the opinion that a hero should not play the anti-hero. "But I believed otherwise. I saw Khilji as a challenge for me, as an actor. And I wanted to take the challenge up. I went with the vision of Sanjay Leela Bhansali and my instinct of what I could achieve with Khilji.

"I'm happy that the audiences are seeing and loving a character that both Sanjay sir and I have worked on tirelessly for over two years to bring to life." Thrilled about the response, he said: "I took a big risk with this character and it's wonderful to see my gamble pay off. This kind of validation gives one the confidence to take bigger and bigger risks, challenge stereotypes and continue to push the envelope in the realm of mainstream Hindi cinema. "I feel very happy and very fulfilled today."

The movie, based on 16th century poet Malik Muhammad Jayasi's 'Padmavat', also stars Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor. It released on January 25 amid much brouhaha as the Shri Rajput Karni Sena protested over the alleged distortion of facts in the movie.

Mahesh Bhatt: Seen so many transitions in this film industry

0

Veteran filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt, who has been in the Hindi film industry for more than four decades, says he has seen a number of transitions in the industry including the time when filmmaker Vikram Bhatt marked his debut and then made a name for himself.

Besides Vikram, who is Mahesh's family friend, Vikram's daughter Krishna too has boarded the filmmaking band wagon with her upcoming web-series "Untouchables".

"I think I have seen so many transitions of this industry and Vikram came and joined me and then Vikram became a force to reckon with. He has made his foray into the world wide web and Krishna is one of that streak," said Mahesh in a statement.

"As you get older you have faith in the younger people and I personally feel that the younger generation has the urgency and idiom of today to communicate with the world in their language but what they need is the draw from the emotional depth of the journeys that we have taken. My journey, her father's journey and that's how her graph will be fuelled by a deeper understanding and I think she already has that in her," he added.

While Mahesh debuted in the film world with his direction of the film "Manzilein Aur Bhi Hain" in 1974, Vikram entered the film industry in 1992 with JAANAM.
