Actor Ali Fazal, who features with Hollywood Judi Dench in VICTORIA & ABDUL, says he is proud that the movie has landed two Oscar nominations in two departments.

Consolata Boyle is nominated in the Best Costume Design category and Daniel Phillips and Lou Sheppard stand a chance to win Best Make-up and Hairstyling segment.

"I'm so proud of my film. I know the hard work that was put in with every department and especially the costumes and make-up. And to hear we have got nominated in both categories is in itself a big achievement," Ali said in a statement.

"I remember sitting for hours in a day just for my fittings and markings. And how meticulously Consolata Boyle would tailor them to match the period we were depicting. It was like watching a painter unravel a masterpiece.

"The same goes for Daniel Phillips, a Golden Globe winner, who was responsible for all our looks. We tried several looks for days and finally locked the one you see in the film. It constantly changes in sync with the costumes through the film. I am glad the Academy saw that. My best wishes to all the other nominees as well,"

Helmed by Stephen Frears, VICTORIA & ABDUL is based on a novel by Shrabani Basu. It revolves around the relationship shared by Queen Victoria and Abdul, who was a Munshi in her government. It also shows his journey on how he became one of the most powerful figures in the court.

The role of the queen is played by Dench and Abdul is essayed by Ali.

Rannvijay Singha: Parenthood is about perfecting balancing act

0

Actor-TV host Rannvijay Singha, who has a daughter, says being a parent is about perfecting the balancing act.

Rannvijay and his wife Prianka Vohra welcomed their daughter Kainaat in January last year.

Asked how is he balancing between work and parenthood, Rannvijay told IANS in an email interview: "Being a parent is about perfecting the balancing act. I see my wife doing it all the time."

The 34-year-old television personality says "fatherhood has changed his life completely".

"I have more patience. I watch more cartoons. And I can melt like butter on a hot griddle when my daughter throws her arms around me," he added.

Rannvijay is popular for his stint on the small screen with shows like "Roadies", "Splitsvilla" and "Troll Police". Even as he is geared up to explore the web series platform, he says the television format has been in his favour.

"It is a format that worked for me. And it still works because it is unpredictable and extremely exciting and engaging," he added.

Rannvijay has also worked on the big screen with films like MOD, SHARAFAT GAYI TEL LENE, LONDON DREAMS and ACTION REPLAYY.

Is his work on TV keeping him away from the silver screen now?

"Not really. Had there been something as exciting, challenging and a project that would have taken me away from my comfort zone, maybe I would consider it," he said.

The actor, who also endorses accessories brand Voylla, says he is not lackadaisical about what he wears.

"I am not always conscious about what I wear but I am not lackadaisical either. Style for me should be effortless. If you have to put too much effort to look stylish, you are probably doing something wrong," he added.

But are men opening up to accessorising?

"Absolutely. From all backgrounds, profession, status, more and more men are now open to wearing some kind of accessory that makes a statement, tells the world who they are," he said.

SUBEDAR JOGINDER SINGH teaser will arouse deep respect for the nation!

0

Much- anticipated war film, the first ever on a Param Vir Chakra recipient; titled on the name of the martyr ‘Subedar Joginder Singh’ has once again bombarded the internet with its next asset, a teaser, which was released yesterday by the makers Seven Colors Motion Pictures.

The inspiration to make this film on the brave Indian soldier who served the British Indian Army, and later the Indian Army, is drawn from the true to life events and incidents of his life that led him to become what he became and is now remembered in a reverential tone.

We all seem to have forgotten the chapter from the annals of our history, the Sino-Indian War, 1962, wherein, a handful of Sikh soldiers stood strong against the waves of thousands of Chinese army men, trying to intrude in our country. The film’s teaser showcases a series of events, which must have happened then. The makers have, to utmost precision, maintained the authenticity of the subject. It goes without saying that the teaser is strong, powerful, precise, and intricately planned. It, expeditiously, rushes through your sight leaving behind a deep impression on your mind; instantaneously arousing deep respect for the nation, and for the people who uninterruptedly work for the protection of its honor.

On the eve of India’s Republic Day, the teaser of this war film- a subject of national importance has reverted people’s attention to the forgotten chapter of our rich history, wherein, the strategic Line of Actual Control was being attempted by the Chinese army to barge in. Few of our soldiers, belonging to the Sikh Regiment and being led by one courageous soul- Subedar Joginder Singh stood rock steady in front of the Chinese troop to protect the sovereignty of our motherland. The teaser of the film, very well captures the patriotic sentiment of the cast of the film, making the same travel in to the heart of general audiences. One faces the adrenaline and a sudden energy outburst when the Sikh regiment’s war cry ‘Jo Boley So Nihal, Sat Shri Akaal’ is hailed in the teaser.

Gippy Grewal’s dialogue in the teaser, ‘For your kind information, this land belongs to India’ is a rage amongst the youth, already! His acting skills have surpassed his previous performances of a lover boy, and this film, in all likelihood, will turn out to be the best war film ever made in the history of Punjabi Cinema. Kudos to the entire team of Subedar Joginder Singh; whose sincere efforts of educating the masses about this brave soldier, and his supreme sacrifices for the nation have started delivering the results in the desired manner.

The film is all set to release during the first week of April 2018 worldwide in four different languages Punjabi, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu. Gippy Grewal starrer, SUBEDAR JOGINDER SINGH, directed by Simerjit Singh, and produced by Sumeet Singh, CEO of Saga Music and Uninsys Infosolutions
