Emraan Hashmi is all set to CHEAT INDIA!

0

T-Series and Ellipsis Entertainment are repeating their partnership following the box office success of the acclaimed Vidya Balan-starrer TUMHARI SULU. The two front-running content companies have partnered with Emraan Hashmi Films on their next production titled CHEAT INDIA.

The edge-of-the-seat drama, largely inspired by real incidents, will be directed by Soumik Sen of GULAAB GANG fame.

Emraan Hashmi will headline the film, which takes a startling look at the crimes in the Indian education system that has created a parallel eco-system infested with greed harvesters.

Talking about the film Hashmi shares, “The script and title of CHEAT INDIA are supremely powerful. This is among the most engaging and riveting stories I’ve read in a while and I am thrilled to be essaying what I believe will be a landmark role in my filmography. I am also looking forward to working with some formidable partners – Soumik, an amazing storyteller, Ellipsis, the new kids with a pulse on clutter-breaking content and marketing, and T-Series, with whom I share an old association on music and films.”

Director Sen added, “This film is for every Indian student who is under pressure to excel in a competitive environment. Today’s youth will hugely relate to CHEAT INDIA.”

“We are increasingly treading the path of strong creative partnerships, and in line with that, we are excited about co-creating CHEAT INDIA, which, we believe, will reflect the new-age appetite for compelling content rooted in realism,” said Bhushan Kumar of T-Series.

Tanuj Garg and Atul Kasbekar of Ellipsis Entertainment remarked, “The projects we are developing are incredibly diverse, varied in scope, and speak to the elevated tastes of audiences today. The story of CHEAT INDIA will entertain and uplift, and we’re delighted to be bringing it to life.”

CHEAT INDIA is scheduled for a February 2019 release.

Williams praises Wahlberg for donating reshoot fee

Actress Michelle Williams has praised her co-star Mark Wahlberg for donating the reshoot fee he took for ALL THE MONEY IN THE WORLD for a cause.

Wahlberg donated his $1.5 million paycheck for the reshoots on their film to the Time's Up movement in her name.

Saying that she had one of the most indelible days of her life, Williams thanked the 46-year-old actor who stood by me and stood up for me, reports aceshowbiz.com.

On January 13, Wahlberg agreed to donate the fee he received for the reshoots on the movie to the anti-harassment movement, with their shared agency William Morris Endeavor (WME) donating an additional $500,000.

The move came in the wake of the backlash that sparked after it was revealed that Williams was paid just $80 per day when they returned to shoot key scenes again with actor Christopher Plummer, who stepped in to replace disgraced actor Kevin Spacey in the film.

Williams insisted the action was not about her, but a stand for equality.

She also sent her support to Anthony Rapp, whose accusations of inappropriate sexual behaviour against Spacey led to the actor being fired from the project.

When Wahlberg made the donation, he said he is supporting fair pay and admitted the discrepancy was an important topic.

He said: "Over the last few days my reshoot fee for ALL THE MONEY IN THE WORLD has become an important topic of conversation. I 100 per cent support the fight for fair pay and I'm donating the $1.5 million to the Time's Up Legal Fund in Michelle Williams' name."
