Bollywood’s gifted star and truly global icon, Irrfan Khan recently wrapped up shooting of his Hollywood film PUZZLE in New York.

The actor has been shooting nonstop for this film since last one month in New York. Soon after wrapping up the last schedule of PUZZLE the actor tagged along with his family and took off to London directly from NYC to enjoy a much needed vacation with his loved ones.

The family had a great time exploring places in London like Hyde Park, Parliament Hill, Palace of Westminster, Tower Bridge, and boat ride over River Thames, Trafalgar Square and many other significant places.

Irrfan's eldest son Babil played the perfect photographer who captured these beautiful moments with his camera. Babil loves photography and his love for it is clearly seen in the pictures that he has clicked during the vacations.

Irrfan has been shooting extensively past couple of years both in India and abroad and this vacation brought much relief to him as well his family.

Shahid Kapoor is a busy man.  The doting daddy to Misha and pati to Meera is filming Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s PADMAVTI with Deepika Padukone.

As it was Deepika Padukone’s birthday, many of her industry friends and fans wished her. However Ranveer Singh didn’t wish her on social media, some special and important people wished her on micro blogging site for instance, Vin Diesel with whom she will be seen in XXX as well as Priyanka Chopra with whom she worked in BAJIRAO MASTANI.

If these people didn’t make her birthday special on social it was Shahid Kapoor’s wish for her PADMA which was immensely cute..

Having done a tremendous job with the screenplay of DELHI BELLY, Akshat Verma, who is making his directorial debut with the Saif Ali Khan starrer KAALAKAANDI, is on his way to making another urban spectacle.

The teaser of the film was released a couple of days ago and everyone’s talking about Saif’s quirky look and crazy dialogues along with all the cat and mouse chases that take place in the video.
 
 “KAALAKAANDI is one of the best movies I’ve been in. Akshat has done a stellar job reflecting the soul of Mumbai. It highlights Mumbai’s underbelly and counter culture so brilliantly, and for that, it needs to be celebrated,” said Saif Ali Khan in a recent interview.
 
“KAALAKAANDI is a labour of love. It is something that my team and I have been working on for a few years now. The role was tailor-made for Saif and he has done a swell job with his performance. We are overwhelmed with the response that we have received for the teaser and can’t wait to finally showcase the film to the audience,” shared director Akshat Verma.
 
Produced by Cinestaan Film Company and Ashi Dua Sara of Flying Unicorn, KAALAKAANDI is written and directed by Akshat Verma and stars Saif Ali Khan along with the eclectic ensemble of Deepak Dobriyal, Vijay Raaz, Kunaal Roy Kapur, Sobhita Dhulipala, Akshay Oberoi, Isha Talwar, Shenaz Treasury, Shivam Patil, Amyra Dastur and Neil Bhoopalam in a special appearance.

The film is slated to hit the silver screen on September 8.

CBFC news maker Chief – Pahlaj Nihalani was again in news but this time the so called ‘sanskari’ was right in his opinion. Pahlaj Nihalani was furious over the recent held IIFA 2017 AWARDS for its hypocrisy and even went further to say that the award better known for its extravagance has lost its dignity. This makes us curious, will the furious Pahlaj Nihalani be fast enough to do something on this?

Pahlaj Nihalani in a statement to Hindustan Times recently said, "Look at the hypocrisy. They haven't even nominated Aamir Khan for DANGAL, and Akshay Kumar for AIRLIFT, and RUSTOM just because they wouldn't attend their weekend holiday plans masquerading as an awards function."

The CBFC went further to say that, "I think the day Mr. (Amitabh) Bachchan opted out, IIFA lost its dignity and relevance. In 18 years, how much global impact has Indian cinema made and what hand did IIFA have in this?"

Pahlaj Nihalani is not wrong, nowadays film awards are not that serious matter and IIFA isn’t an exception but it seems Pahlaj Nihalani’s rant is coming out from some earlier wound that got scratched again at the award function forcing him to bleed his displeasure openly.

UDTA PUNJAB gave the CBFC chief and the makers of this film sleepless nights over its certification which saw Bollywood divided into two sides. The movie finally got release but not before people against the objection raised by CBFC calling it an attempt to curb freedom of expression resulting in ugly words of exchange by both the sides.

The 18th edition of the International Indian Film Academy Awards IIFA held in New York saw UDTA PUNJAB bagging 4 awards including the best actor Shahid Kapoor and best actress Alia Bhatt. Punjabi heartthrob Diljit Dosnajh got the award in best debut male category. Kanika Kapoor won the award for best playback for the song ‘Da Da Dasse’ from the film.

So is UDTA PUNJAB the reason?.. we don’t know but thanks to Pahlaj Nihalani the sorry state of our award function got again highlighted. The highly coveted Filmfare has always had its share of controversies since decades. This year National Awards saw something unique when Akshay Kumar received nominations in the best actor category for two films RUSTOM and AIRLIFT which is against the rule book which allows only one film to be mentioned.

It’s sad that one of the largest movie producing nations India doesn’t has a dedicated Industry award for the industry, like Oscars or BAFTA. Bollywood has Apsara but it is confined to a particular producers association. There is no common umbrella for a recognized award like Oscar in India.

Mr. Nihalani is furious and we are curious to know whether the producer of super hit blockbusters like AANKHEN, SHOLA AUR SHABNAM who is the current chief of CBFC will act fast and have a proper industry award in Bollywood like Oscar..? Well, considering his remarkable 29 years stint as the President of the Association of Pictures and TV Programme Producers (AMPTPP) can get the producers together under one umbrella for a distinguished and respected industry award in future?

Furious Pahlaj Nihalani ji, it’s time to be fast!

Amazon Studios and Excel Entertainments’ web series ‘Inside Edge’ that released ten days back has been garnering good response from the viewers. In a candid interview Sayani Gupta who plays cricket analyst Rohini Raghavana in the series shares with us how difficult it was for her to play an analyst as she never followed Cricket religiously in real life. The actress also shared why instead of working in Indian remake of famous web series she would love to go over there and work in them.

SAYANI GUPTA

Tell us about your on-going web series ‘Inside Edge’ and your character in it
‘Inside Edge’ is based on two things which our country is extremely obsessed with i.e. Cricket and Bollywood basically it’s a marriage between them. People don’t know what goes on behind the closed doors, how much power and money is involved in these games like IPL. The character I play is that of an analyst and actually there has never been a women analyst in our country unfortunately. This analyst is basically in charge of every decision taken like who are the players that are going to play, what the batting line up, bowling line up, field placement everything. So my character is basically a cricket geek. She is very powerful sort of person and if you see her then she is just little like young girl but everyone is really scared of her and take her very seriously in fact they call her the number woman. Her entire life revolves around cricket and her team Mumbai Maverick.

Previously you had said that you never followed cricket personally so how difficult it was to understand the technical terms in order to play your character in the show?
It was very difficult if you watch the show you will see that I am literally ranking out numbers it’s like she literally has a verbal diarrhea of numbers so I had to understand what I have to say as its all technicalities that I am talking about. I do not follow any sports religiously but I do watch few of them like any person does. But for this show I had to eat, breathe and live cricket like a cricket fanatic. So prior to this show I followed the last IPL in order to understand everything properly. And thankfully I had a team who comprise of cricket buffs like my director Karan and our writer helped me a lot. Also my co-stars Angad and Tanuj helped me and I used to literally walk around them noting down points making pie-charts. Being an actor all these things are part of my job but yeah it was not easy.

How similar or different it is to work for a feature film as compared to working in a web series?
Actually it’s not very different the only difference is the length. Like for films scripts are generally 100-140 pages but here it was like over 800 pages! It was crazy. When I was given the script I was like are you kidding me? It was really intimidating. as we never shoot chronologically and there is so much happening in the script that sometimes we are like shooting something from 1st episode then suddenly something from 3rd episode and in the middle of all this we are like, “Acha usme kya hua tha? Uska kya hogaya tha? Uss episode me apne aisawala expression diya tha etc and there was so much to remember. So because of its length it become bit difficult but having said that as an actor my job is this only so I try to give my best like I do for any of my projects.

From the promos and trailer of the show it is clearly evident that some of the characters are, if not inspired then, at least loosely based on real life people. So what’s your comment on it?
The thing is that obviously you have Richa’s character who is a Bollywood actress and also a team owner so comparisons with real life characters like Shilpa Shetty who is also an owner of IPL team is natural but apart from that there is no other similarities in their characters or where they are coming from. Some people even said that Vivek’s character looks like Lalit Modi but he isn’t! He doesn’t look or behave like Lalit Modi. Vivek’s character is like an out and out baddie. So if you look at this there are actually no similarities at all. See everybody likes to have some kind of association but for the creators they have to create something new and if they take it from real life then audience will be least interested in it. And come on do you think that if Amazon and Excel both of them are coming together then they would be anything of this sort? No. They would only look forward to creating something original and interesting.

Do you follow any international web series?
I do. I love Narcos. House of Cards is amazing though I haven’t seen its last few seasons. Also on hotstar I watch this Big Little Lies which I absolutely love it.

So if any of these series is remade in India, in which one of them you would love to work in?
I don’t want them to be remade in India and I want to go there and work in them. I would love to be Mother of Dragon in Game of Thrones.

Kangana Ranaut’s upcoming film MANIKARNIKA is going in full swing. The actress is also gearing up for the film. Since the film is about Rani of Jhansi, played by Kangana Ranaut in the film, of course it involves a lot of action scenes and sequences.
 
Kangana has been busy shooting for MANIKARNIKA in Hyderabad. The actress had some major sword fighting scenes to shoot yesterday with co-star Nihar Pandya. During the shoot unfortunately the actress got injured and got a deep cut on her forehead.

As soon as the unfortunate accident occurred, the feisty actress was rushed to the Apollo Hospital amidst pain and blood loss. She got a total of 15 stitches on the forehead and has been advised rest for four days.

Kangana  said, "I am a bit embarrassed to be thrilled to have a battle scar on my face. Also, people from my team have been telling me that it's like that Peshwa teeka that Manikarnika wore. It's a bit dramatic but I am excited that my face was covered in blood and I got a genuine and authentic glimpse of the Queen's life."

Kangana has been training hard in sword fighting under Hollywood stunt director Nick Powell. She is also taking horse riding lessons. Directed by Krish, MANIKARNIKA – THE QUEEN OF JHANSI has Kangana playing the title role of Jhansi Rani Laxmibai.
